what the hell is wrong with you guys.. this is gonna turn into a race war because of sly and opportunist BNP / EDL and other far right idiots trying to egg on more trouble.

the more people go out it will just escalate the trouble.. the news has already reported of these 'defenders of the streets' engaging with the police after throwing a bottle or 2 at them.. it will also raise racial tensions in the city..

3 people died yesterday. do yourselves a favour.. stay at home. let the police get on with their jobs. and if you are a parent or a brother.. for gods sake.. keep an eye on your kids n siblings..

There seems to be two different conversatons going on in this thread.

One - "don't go on the streets and get involved in any way with the mindless violence and looting that's going on" - FULLY AGREE.

Two - "should/will the match be called off on Saturday because of the ......." . FULLY DISAGREE (that it should be called off).

Apparently Zulus and Villa Youth going somewhere tonight.

Is 'Bambi' or 'Dumbo' playing in cinemas again ???

--------------------------------

Parti - you don't know what it's like here at the moment: shops all boarded up, police everywhere and nightly violence.

If the Zulus and Villa Youth can mobilise a bunch of blokes to stand up to the rioters then I'd be with them. B'ham is (not exaggerating) a city under siege at the moment - ghost town after 18:00 except for cops n' thugs.

As if that is the answer you twonk

Leave law and order to the Police or even the Army......you know, people who have real courage and don't need five pints of Stella to be HARD !!

Zulus and Villa Youth are cowards just like these mindless hoodies

Act tough with a big mob behind them , throw missiles from 40 yards away .....cry like pussies , run away when outnumbered

I remember the Handsworth riots of the 80's and I remember those embarassing Zulus as well .....so don't even dare lecture me

Don't forget to take your screwdriver and hammer with you ......those ATM machines and parking meters can be a a real toughie

Jeeze......where does this Forum get these people

Oh ! and another thing

If brave individuals want to protect their homes, their families and their business's with vigilante tactis , I've no qualms with that .....each to their own

But as soon as you start tagging yourselves with football hooligan 'Firms ' , you become a laughing stock

I fear for us all if football fans get involved. There are enough mindless nutters associated with our Club as it is. Have you ever thought that if policing soccer matches didn't take so much man-power then we wouldn't even be thinking about cancelling games. The Test Match was never really in doubt.

Is there any real difference between the mindless idiots who are rioting and the "fans" who came on the pitch at the last Villa game, or who attacked PP's car?

All from the same source as far as I can see.

Parti im neither mindless nor a coward

I do know a lot of the younger lads were in the city centre yesterday as they had enough of the looting and wanton destruction that was taking place. The WMP were in large numbers as you would expect and whilst it may surprise you to hear that they understood where the lads were coming from they couldnt allow them to go in and deter any would be criminals as that was the job of the police.Makes perfect sense and the lads stayed in the Bullring Tavern as requested.

There were pockets of MEN, not youths, around town last night. Not BNP, not EDL, not nazis, not racists, but MEN sick of what these rats have been doing.
You don't believe me? Well, that's because you weren't there.
I believe the cockney MEN out on the streets the other night were a deterrent to the rats and I respect them greatly for it.

A bit like the Krays, gawd bless, em. It was always safer in the manor when they were about.

I mean, those looters were going around smashing things up, giving anyone in their way a kicking. Not like those football hooligans who all love their mothers and kittens and all that and never, ever smash up pubs, beat up innocent football fans or anything.

Like modern day Robin Hoods they is, they bring a tear to my eye.

Its a good job none of them had jobs to go to and could spend all afternoon puffing out their chests. Where would we have been without them, eh?

Unfortunately, they won't be available at the weekend to defend the city, they will be smashing up a pub Saturday and have an EDL meeting on Sunday.

Indeed Hooby, quite witty. Partly true to an extent also.
I was sitting with a general manager of a large city store, a business owner and I myself hold a MSc in Forensic Psychology. Not stereotypical "firm" fellas, just blokes waiting in a pub we all know the owner of, looking after his hard earned livelihood.

But how far from the truth?

Truly, how many were concerned about the city being damaged, and how many were truly motivated by the fact that it was black youths predominantly seen causing the trouble?

Isn't it rather hypocritical that one group that acts lawlessly decides to confront another group that is only, in reality, acting like they have done in the past?

Until anyone proves otherwise the motives of this group I will remain sceptical

Not sure what you are suggesting with that Hooby...you are aware of the make up of the group surely.

Yes there is a lot of hypocrisy, this country runs on it

I'm saying was your motivation not that the city was getting smashed up, or just that it wasn't you lot doing it?

Was this tribal, along the lines of 'someone is in our territory'?

Seems like a very base, very tribal reaction to me. Not one that actually makes any sense other than beating your chest at the incursion of some rivals

It wasnt my motivation...i wasnt there. The lads i know that were had quite simply had enough of watching the city centre being trashed.football related violence is a subject perhaps best left alone on here but yes it is ironic and somewhat hypocritical in some respects but to suggest it was racially motivated is way way off the mark.

Perhaps racially is the wrong term, but certainly tribally.

If those riots had been your gang, firm or whatever you like to call it, then you'd have been defending it. As its another group then your group sees it as wrong.

Its interesting psychologically, and makes absolutely no sense whatsover.

We're well versed in this argument, but you know that I don't see any distinction between those that looted and your group.

Im well aware Hooby
i can only speak of the lads i know personally, not for the whole group if its right to call it a group. We all have different views, and we all have things that we would step over the line for.I can see the crime is a crime position, and wouldnt attempt to argue the sense in what goes on with you or anyone else.
It would be good to meet you at a game one day though and have a beer

Hobby grow up ... its NOT our firm or there firm ....its our City was being smashed up by m u p p e t s who do NOT care about other peoples properties, goods or peoples lives. Whites blacks muslins etc stand together to fight these 's c u m'. When its football its total different so tell me when was the last time Blues v vile did either of them smash up the City centre .... never !!!!!
Like in London when its footie its just one firm against another they DO NOT smash up or burn London.

I'm with you there

I always enjoy chucking these things around with you.

To be fair, I bet if we met you would recognise me, I've been going home and away for years and went to a lot of the away games 20 years ago and knew by site a lot of the old faces.

By chance I was at a barbeque miles from Brum and a guy came out on to the patio, we just looked at each other, we recognized each other immediately despite the fact we had never really crossed paths. He was a face from those times too, and had been a bit naughty in the past (and still is when he thinks his wife isn't watching!)

It was a small old world in those days, and when there 200-300 of us on the old terraces at Reading, Leicester and all those places

I'm not sure having read that you're in any position to tell me to 'grow-up'

I am struggling to distinguish between looting and violence at football, I guess you're distinguishing between fighting with each other and attacking other people's property, which I see. However, football violence is not a victimless crime either and, in my mind, is just as bad as the looting.

I've seen plenty an innocent given a good pasting by a Blues faithful and vice versa, I've seen property smashed, I've seen shops raided. I can remember being on a train back from Oxford where during a game self-styled BCFC supporters had en-masse looted a designer clothing store.

What is the difference?

I'm not sure how questioning this makes me in need of 'growing up', perhaps you could explain that?
