Now i know for even bringing this up it is likely i will get shot down, and i DO admit i have been impressed with the intent and the tactics applied by CH so far this season BUT:

Including friendlies:

Cork won 1-0
Hereford drew 0-0
Oxford lost 2-0
Everton lost 1-2
Derby lost 2-1
Coventry won 1-0
Nacional drew 0-0

that is 4 goals from 7 games, which is a worse record than Alex McLiesh. I understand it is a work in progress but it isn't good enough yet

Great post bluenoseghag - it's your observation and you have had the courage to post.

I was lambasted for my observations regarding McLeish.

The stats support your post and I have thought the same...................BUT it's circumstances. Hughton has not got any decent forwards to finish off, He has the philosophy, he has got us playing football which is pleasing on the eye, he has got us won 1, lost 1 in the league and a draw away in Eurpope - DESPITE the circumstances.

I think the goal scoring record is not because of him and is because of what he has had to accept.

KRO - he will get us there. **thumbup

i have been to both league games and watched the europa game and have to say i've enjoyed all three.

yes the goals haven't arrived but if we continue to play the same way they will.

three impressive performances from a newly assembled team. when they gel even more the goals will come. notwithstanding the possibility of redmond, king and jerome being introduced as well.

last year was painful not just relegation but the moronic turgid drivel mcdrone's side produced. already we see pass and move with a purpose even to the extent that ridgewell plays as a defensive midfielder and looks reasonable.

Another one blinded by hatred Big Eck :banghead:

Grow up. Jesus that really has annoyed me. What you forget is that 4 of those games were Friendlys. We have scored 2 in 2 in the league and against Nacional who are European quality we hit the woodwork 3 times and could have won. Like others have said King and Jerome are injured and when they get back I'm sure we will score our fair share of goals. KRO!!!!

Honest question, if McLies had still been in charge would people have been moaning about the lack of goals and the inability to sign a goalscoring striker, or praising the performances?

Would McJudas of had us getting 20 chances on goal against Derby. Would McJudas allow players to get forward as much as Hughton allows. Would McJudas of had the team almost beating a very good European team away. The answer is No. Hughton is a new manager and like all new managers will get a honeymoon period. I'm sure the striker situation will be sorted and if Jerome stays then we wait for him to get fit. Give Hughton a chance because he is the perfect person for the job. KRO!!!!

Couldnt have said it better myself Pap

:applause:

What planet are you big Eck

got us into Europe We won the Carling cup

:dancer:

and before and after he bored fans to death consistantley 3 shots a game was his record

Well with your way of thinking

We only needed two on target a Wembley :dancer:

What a stupid statement 3 shots on target

per game :banghead:

Forget the Final for a miniute. He tactically outclassed Wenger that day and I'll admit that. But what about in the league? Playing 4-5-1 at home against teams like Wigan. Don't you find that annoyingly defensive? KRO!!!!

The OP brought up all the friendly results...for me you might aswell count all the practice games at Wast Hills! Crazy, Chris Hughton is working with both hands tied behind his back at the moment. And from what i've seen so far you can definitely see a difference in the players keeping posession better...his footballing ethos will be good for this football club - and we need to be patient and let him get on with it.

I'm not criticising Hughton, i wanted Curbishley but so far i've been very impressed with CH. It's just given the chances we are making, and given we have been dominating teams why are we not scoring? Under McJudas people would have been moaning all over the place and while i accept the circumstances are different it just underlines the fickleness of football fans.

If things don't change will people start shouting Hughton out because we aren't scoring enough?

and can i just apologise for causing another Ginger Both Nostrils vs The Rest of the Forum debate

they're all out for a damn while longer too, but we have to start scoring soon and can't rely on them to hit the ground running immediately.

Really don't want to have a go at CH, but we are simply not taking our chances. Today we dominated the first half yet only managed to score from the spot. Middlesborough had about 5 chances early in the second half and scored 3 of them!

If we can't score; which we can't, we should be shoring up the defence McLeish like and ensuring we are hard to break down, and then breaking with the pace of Redmond Burke and Beausejour. Really worried that unless King and Jerome come back and start scoring quick we won't have enough goals in us "no"

:blues: We cant put more than one striker on the park at any given time because we dont have any fit or available. We are still in the same boat cant score goals either because we have strikers who cant or we dont have any strikers available.

To put Wood and Rooney on at the same time just about kills each others back up, they cover each other and Asante is on the bench for experience.

Interesting post. Given we are forced to play 4-5-1 McLeish's hard to beat style particularly away always kept us competing. There is much to be said that a point for a depleted team away at Middlesborough is a good result.

Of course this wont please those who want to be "entertained" but point mean prizes. I think playing expansive football at home and a more conservative style away may pay dividends particularly with a depleted sqaud.
