20th, loads of goals and going to Madrid to watch blues play Athletico or start going down the 'bread and butter' 'results led' rubbish and finish 8th. I'm going to Spain.

The best that can happen is we get through on Thursday and guarantee the Europa league group stages. CH will do what he feels fit during those games if we get there!

Either way all being well we will get our European adventure even if it's to watch our squad Players. Some people may not get another chance to see blues in Europe !

3 matches into the league and we're already being given the false dilemma of Europa League group stage equalling a relegation battle?

I don't believe it's an either/or situation, so I'm going with an option of my own design... Group stage and beyond in the Europa League, and promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.

Our best XI is just as good as most any in the league. Sign some players, get some players fit, and we'll be among those vying for promotion.

What would you prefer?

I think if we qualify for the group stage, which looks likely as Nacional looked pretty pants on thursday, the Europa games will obviously knacker our small squad - as seen today.

So that could make us relegation candidates.

However I think if we concentrated wholly on the league we could still finish mid-table.

Thoughts?

Get out of the Europa.

European football and second tier football do not mix - hence the constant fixture clashes.

Those two sentences contradict each other.

You are clearly too blue-eyed to entertain reasoned argument against your statement.

I expect that you also said that last season's squad was too good to go down.

You obviously don't completely comprehend what the term 'contradiction' means, because if you did you'd know that each of the statements i've made are independent of one another and that the one statement doesn't assert the opposite of the other, nor are they in conflict with one another... Had I done either of those things, I'd tend to agree with you though.

Our best XI IS just as good as most any other in the Championship... That's saying that based on the assumption that if Blues played our best XI, we'd be a threat to any side in the league.

Obviously some of our better players are out injured, and we'll of course have to count on more than simply our best XI, and so continued with the following...

Making a few more signings, and having players come back from injury will add the strength in numbers we are now lacking, and should those issues be resolved, we will be among the sides vying for promotion.

If we don't resolve those issues however, we probably won't be vying for promotion.

I believe if anything that my posts over the years have been respectful and open to reasoned opposing arguments, and I'm not as "blue-eyed" as you assert, so you shouldn't generalise simply based on me not being all doom and gloom 3 matches into the season.

I can't recall ever saying that any club was too good to go down, Blues or otherwise.

Qualify for Europa Groups at all costs for me.

We're not going to get promoted so the difference between finishing high midtable or low midtable is nominal. We've scratched around in the 2nd/3rd tier of English football for most of my supporting life, it's not THAT bad...but having potentially another 3 adventures around Europe, we'll that'd be just blooming marvelous give's us all something to look forward to.

100% No! If we go out to the better team Thursday that's fine but I want to see us get through. I've already given up hope of promotion and were too good to go down IMO. KRO!!!!

We wont go down whether we go through on Thursday, out on Thursday, or all the way to the Europa Final in Budapest IMO.

Midtable is where we'll finish so why not make the most of this European adventure if we get through, its certainly not gonna happen again for us for a long long long time with the joke of a board we have.

So you think we have the squad to play 60 games this season?

And do well (mid-table) in all of them?

Answer me one question ..... are YOU going on Thursday ????

Yes I am. And I want us to win.

I just don't want us to be flirting with relegation all season because of it. Our first 11 is top 6 quality, but rest of our squad isn't.

I still don't think we'd go down if we were in the group stages, but it would be the difference between top 6 and bottom half.

That's all I was suggesting in the opening post. Think some people got the wrong end of the stick.

That's crazy - with a fully fit squad we're one of the best in this league.

If the injuries clear up and we bring in a few loans we will win games and build great momentum. I know things are far from perfect, but to say promotion isn't a realistic prospect is very harsh.

Let's not create too much negativity. Swansea and Norwich were both promoted last season with squads that are inferior to ours.

It is amazing........ 3 games in and its all over to some people on here!

We have lost 2 away games and won our only home game so far. Sounds fine to me. I believe we will be a strong team at home this year and based on our 2 performances away from home so far, we are capable of picking up some points away from home too.

We just have to patient. CH will make 1-2 more signings soon and the injuries will clear up.

I really want us to go through to the Group Stages, how brilliant will it be to have some big teams come down to St Andrews.

No one should be talking about Relegation, the season is about 3 weeks old. Leciester are playing with relegation form at the minute too, so I guess they will be going down as well!!

Mate im not being negative. Im just accepting the way things are. Yes I do believe there are some very big positives but Hughton can not compete without backing. Hughton for me is the right man for the job but no options on the bench. Such a small squad. KRO!!!!

If one accepts that after 3 games we are going to be relegated, then one must accept that Vile and Wolves are going to finish in the top 4 of the Premiership. Roll on Christmas and all these trips to Europe

What I don't understand is how the board expected McJudas to get promotion at the first attempt.

Lets face it, he walked because he probably knew more than us, and knew it wasn't going to get better.

We are a club in trouble. There is no doubt about that.

All we can do as supporters is stick together and believe that things will get better eventually. It may take 12 months, 2 years, 5 years or longer. But we will get there.

Last season the groups included...

Group
A - Juventus
B - Athletico Madrid
C - Sporting Lisbon
D - Villareal
E - Dynamo Kiev
F - CSKA Moscow
G - Anderlecht
H - Stuttgart
I - PSV Eindhoven
J - PSG
K - Steaua Bucherest
L - Porto

I would expect more of the same this year... so **** the league this season...

Lets consolidate, steady the ship and enjoy what we can this season. Many of us may never see it again!

Promotion can wait.
