I was told today that our cult hero Mario put 24 homeless people up for the night in the Manchester Hilton sometime over the Christmas period.

Try this quiz , folks.....at least to seperate the fact from the fiction

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/quiz/20...ester-city-quiz

I only scored 5 which again underlines why I'm baffled at the mind boggling love-in with him

Put him in a Blackburn, Bolton or a Wolves side and he'd look average at best

And he'd be the last baby sittter I'd hire if Mario ever fancied his hand at that type of part time work

KRO

Parti...as much as I respect you friend.

You are so way off beam, so out of it, your simplistic comments don't mean anything very much.

Like someone on Mars with a telescope on Earth!

Mario, my friend is near to a National Treasure. I kid you not.

This guy is the full tool kit.
Gascoigne meets Rooney meets Worthington...

....ALL in one body.

Show-off on the pitch, yes.

Challenger in the dressing room , yes.

Doesn't tolerate fools, yes.

Balotelli is really, honestly Parti, a really good footie player. A true one-off nutter no doubt.

But not maliscious, not viscious, not deceitful.

God I wish he was English.

If I'm based on Mars you must be spinning around somwhere in a gas cloud between the giant sisters Saturn and Jupiter

So you like Mario.....good for you......you also think Craig Gardner is a useful footballer so as for the deluded stakes, midland, you win hands down

Personally I just think Balotelli's an attention seeking muppet who spins a lot of twine that is largely unbelievable

So he's a 'good deed do-er' ......well so were The Wizard of Oz and Mother Theresa

Doesn't deserve any more praise than the hundreds of bread and butter footballers up and down the country who do charity work and visit the unfortunate kids in the hospitals

When you've got 200K in your skyrocket every week, it becomes easy and even tempting to give it away to paint yourself as a samaritan come clown.....what he does with his money is his business , perhaps he really likes to rub it in the noses of the jobless or the homeless ?? Do you know him personally ?? Have you met him face to face ??

He's paid to play football and as I said earlier put him in a Wolves, Wigan or Bolton eleven and he'd look distinctly average

Man City star players ?? ..........They've obviously got a shipload to choose from but based on sublime talent David Silva, Joe Hart and YaYa Toure stand out for me well before the one with the five fingered Tea Cosy on his head .....even Dzeko went from possible misfit to a real red-hot hot shot who has looked better and better with every game he plays

Balotelli's downfall will be when he loses his place for a longish period or when some tough defender gives him a dose of the mickey taking he thrives on .....Then watch him sulk and head straight for Twitter 'a la' Joey The Jail Bird Barton

Mario could never be as daft as Gazza ........now he was true legend......and he was English

I didn't say he was average though did I ??

I said he might look average in one of the struggling sides much lower down the League

Don't get me wrong, I think he is a good player

But I guess I just don't get all the self gratification and the occasional buffoonery he swathes himself in

Listening to R5live this morning and our cult hero was talked about again. Apparently this week he has been randomly buying motorists their petrol....BUT his best was being caught short for a pee so he went into a school and asked permission to use their loos. A few minutes later he was being given a guided tour of the school and meeting the kids.

Don't you just love this man. I always look forward to a Man C game and have fingers crossed that he is playing. Even on Wed night, he had a woeful game and was substituted after 39 minutes but there was still entertainment from him.

He'd be better serving others if he fed some of the starving homeless instead.....or maybe buy some unfortunate kids a ticket to the cinema or local swimming baths

Do you think he will give away his Bentley when he returns to Italy or wherever ??? Not on your nellie

Wow....all this news worthy stuff makes me have to catch my breath  .....I bet if the Headmaster had been a Man Yoo fan , Balotelli would have been told to take a hike and use a public convenience instead .....or even the one at the local pub

I prefer to admire the skills of David Silva and the wonder saves by Joe Hart TBH

And your hero who likes to play Robin Hood didn't react too kindly to Charlie Adam's tap on the head when he was lying spreadeagled on the turf after a very tame challenge did he ?? Big Girls' Blouse :LMAO:

...that's the toilet/school incident I heard about this morning.

There's a comment under the article by a reader...
"A breath of fresh air. Better than the Tweeter footballers, he actually gets out and about. How about a tv show ....he would be a star."
How true eh? He's hugely more value for money than those dim tweeters. As for a tv show..could he be the new Jimmy Saville?

Lowds

That is genuinely ripe and even borderline hilarious coming from someone who regularly hi-jacked every single thread that "praised" McLeish when he was here and now you are doing the same thing with the Zigic worshippers

By the way, this Forum entitles all posters to make any comment on any thread (within the rules of course) so I'll say what I bloomin' well please

Says it all for me......Just your typical mega rich, arrogant, attention seeking Premier League footballer

Like I said earlier, give me a David Silva, Yaya Toure or Joe Hart any day of the week ....they do their talking on the field....all of the time

Are you aware that most of this Balotelli "Samaratian hype" is just fabricated and BS ???? Except of course when he purposely displayed complete disregard for someone's property when he almost burned it down while he was sipping on his vintage wine :LMAO:

1. Balotelli was a racially abused athlete in his Italian Clubs and for the National team. "You are Black- You Aren't Italian" - the united Ultras sang from his first International appearance onwards- - but although he'd lived from being an infant in Italy (with foster parents) he refused to join the Ghana U17s (at Millwall FGS like)- or be recognised by Ghana later, because he wanted to be Italian.

2. Mancini rather than Mouhrino got the best out of him in Italy, and subsequently he was Mancini's preferred choice at Man City -

3. Profiles of racially abused athletes can be read by 'searching' Kelly Holmes and Hope Powell - - it may indicate the anger and choices they made as being comparable to Mario. You do need to read, to understand Patiman.

4. Mario (imo) is still baulking, putting 2 fingers-up, if you like to the racism he had for his first 4 years in Italy. (He is only 21 now). Been abused by the racially-pure Ultras for 5 years. Refused to join the U17s and upwards because he didn't have an Italian Citizenship.

5. Mario has come with a kind of mindset imo.
Defensive, reactionary. MOST OF ALL - - - a SCARED CHILD, who suddenly has a Gun ! Or a football skill in high demand!
He isn't going to shoot anyone, but he will say.."How Much Do You Love Me ?"

And Mancini has shown him time and again that he is loved.

Mario has been through more abuse and hatred in 5 years than Gazza did in 20 years - actually like, did anyone ever 'hate' Gazza ? :D

Trust me Parti manno...you are way wrong

No, elvis , I don't believe I am wrong

If you are another one who wishes to be duped by this publicity seeking clown, so be it.....more fool you are

What's with the speeches about being racially abused ??? This is becoming a far too used PC term that could end up creating more bad blood in our national sport......But sometimes, people have to remember just that....it's only a sport, not one to be made a platform for political agendas and PC bleeding hearters......now we're suddenly pointing our fingers at this player or that player when thousands of supporters of various nationalities freely think they are licensed to delve in the practise even today

I'd agree that Italian crowds are hostile and can be racist as well....as they are clearly are in Spain, as they clearly are in Croatia and Serbia and other Eastern European nations .....witness the disgraceful monkey chants in the Barca v Espanyol game the other week ( a local derby by the way ....save you looking it up) aimed at Alvez

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11...abuse-condemned

Way back in 1936 Jesse Owens, an African American athlete did his talking to Adolf Hitler and the rest of the Germanic Master Race on the track by hauling in four gold medals and giving the Fuerher, let's say, a bright red face, the Nazi leader regarded African Americans as mere slave bred hard labourers and thought Owens was only in Berlin merely to make up the numbers at the Olympic Games

The USA have produced many black boxing champions ....Muhammed Ali, Joe Louis, Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes , George Foreman, Sugar Ray and many others all found boxing an ideal avenue to explore and to escape the grim ghetto life and opression they were accustomed to as young kids.....it was American enterprise in sport that helped them on their way despite Don King's ludicrous and provoking claims that a black boxer would only be exploited by white promoters and trainers .....all of these former champions became very rich men indeed and some of these sporting legends weren't even allowed to use toilets that were reserved for white people in many parts of their home nation, let alone ask for permission

Tom Cruise came out of an orphanage and faced an uncertain adult life to pursue an acting career and after a slow start became a big Box Office draw.....not a great fan of Mr Cruise but a great success he did become

Black footballers in England such as Andy Cole, John Barnes, Paul Ince and Emile Heskey have had to endure sickening racial chants by their own country men who claim to be football fans , John Barnes even had bananas thrown in his direction whenerever he went close to a touchline or to take a corner and that was back in the 80's when it was much more painful to be a black man in a sport that had for more than a century been dominated by white players

So don't preach to me about Balotelli's problems as a scared kid, minority players had it far worse than him in a previous era and were also paid a lot less and even your reference to when Balotelli was at Milan , if I was on 150K a week you could call me any rotten name you like , I really wouldn't care, I'm sure Fahey, Zigic and Jerome plus others have been made to feel just as unwelcome at a certain Birmingham City FC and two of them are white fellahs

Thousands of youngsters the world over fight their way up the ladder from obscurity, division and no hope .....Most of the top footballers in Brazil and Argentina over the past few decades including both Maradona and Pele were raised in the slums and shanties of Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo where, believe me, everyday life is not exactly a bag of roses

The tale of rags to riches or flying in the face of opression and discrimination is hardly a new one and certainly one not reserved for your good Mr Super Mario......There are scores of African born players making their way in European football right now, fair play to them, it's a short career anyway, make the most of it

And by the way there are much larger numbers who don't make the grade in sport

1 - They just weren't good enough
2 - They simply could not handle the fame
3- They lacked the discipline, determination or work ethic to see it all the way through
4 - They self destructed and couldn't resist the temptations and spoils of celebrity life that came with the new fame sometimes ripping apart their own families ......George Best and Tiger Woods two good examples
5 - They fell flat on their faces when so-called friends and business colleagues turned their backs on them when the going got too rough or fleeced them out of every shiny cent by means of deception and fraud

There's nothing I like more than a fairytale story of a 'have not' suddenly having it all at his feet including the world .......Doesn't work for all of them though.......Mr Balotelli might soon just be yesterday's news

KRO and all that

Here is a decent report including some examples of the racism Balotelli suffered.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/de...ian-racism-book

Pay particular attention to “Juventus supporters once held up a banner about Balotelli with the words: "A Negro cannot be Italian." Another bearing the message "No to a multi-ethnic national team" was confiscated at the international match against Romania.”

You are correct when you say football is only a sport but here is the thing - no one should have to put up with hatred like that simply for playing it or for wanting to represent their national team and it doesn’t make people like me PC bleeding hearters for wanting it out of the game.

Racism isn’t footballs problem it is humanities and obviously it isn’t just a black white issue but in this case we are talking about a section of Italian society that target Balotelli simply because he is black – if that isn’t racism I don’t know what is. It is fine for you as an individual to dislike Balotelli as an individual because you think he is an idiot but don’t ignore genuine racism just because you don’t like him.

Well when you are a cult hero then all the incidents and happenings just follow you around.

It's the 94th minute, he's in the box and he gets pulled down...penalty. And it's only Balotelli that steps up to take the penalty. And what a penalty. Cool eh? 94:40 on the clock when he puts it home. :applause:
