An Alternative To Drums At Stans; different instrument

I really don't think Stans should have drums banging on through the match. It reminds me of MLS games I've gone to. Just doesn't fit a proper english club IMO.

Furthermore, I could go absolutely crazy whenever I hear a vuvuzela. Yeah it creates an atmosphere, but the atmosphere is terrible to withstand.

I suggest an alternative to improve the atmosphere. If everyone brought a theremin to the game, the atmosphere would be absolutely top notch! Imagine KRO with the hum of a theremin or SOTV where we bleeped the word Villa with a theremin note. Our atmosphere would be unique to every single football club on Earth!

What the heck is this all about?

Why bring up drums and vuvuzelas?

Never heard of a 'theremin'.

Is it me?

I've been tempted to bring a kazoo down to play along to Food for thought.

One of the benefits of a theremin is that you can sing while playing it.

Reading had a drum yesterday, and I thought it was pathetic. Clap your hands and sing your lungs out, that'll do for me!

Nah, Paper and comb, imagine 15,000 doing that to Food for Thought, much better than a kazoo. ;) **thumbup

Yeh I can just imagine the turnstile attendants allowing those through lol.

Not trying to be an old grouch but I thought those vuvuzela's spoilt the World Cup atmosphere and that was when I had a volume control button. Can remember talking to a Ipswich fan at the time who suggested if anyone had one next to him during a match he would politely place it where the sun doesn't shine on the owners body.

How about everyone having a whoopee cushion and when a player does a howler everyone sits down at the same time, this will also allow for any slip ups from the digestion of a dodgy pie at half time

Does anyone have Theramin they want to sell. I need one for a 1930,s themed party. Also could I suggest that people bring digaridoos to the next game. When played correctly they make a right din (It would also give me a chance to bring my didge which I bought back from Oz in 1987 and has been in the cupboard unplayed since then). I am also interested in getting hold of one of those things that Rolf Harris used to play (not the plank but the one you blow through) that would be a talking point if all the fans brought those along.

Personally I would like to see (and listen to) a string quartet, preferably in the lower tier of the Tilton/Kop corner.

I would also like to see that one day. Baby steps though.

A good alternative to a drum (a la Reading) would be to use our VOICES !

Still on topic, I have seen Jean Michel Jarre use a theramin and, more recently, Bill Bailey in one of his comedy gigs.

Very evocotive sounds !
