Massively enjoyed the european adventure so far. The two games against Bruges especially! Coming back from 2 down v Bruges has really saved us in the group. My only worry is that we are facing quite a few results that could see us not qualifying even if we get 10 points. In the next round of games Braga are favourites to beat us and Bruges are favourites to beat Maribor. If this happens either a draw between Bruges and Braga or a Bruges win would mean we would go out whatever happens in our game against Maribor. Being level with Braga means we would go out due to inferior results against them. The opposite happens if we are level with Bruges. Looks like this is reflected in the odds for qualification from our group: - Braga 1/33 - Bruges 1/11 - Blues 6/17 It would be terrible were we to go out with 10 points. That cant have happened very often! "no" Hope the bookies are wrong and we can get a point against braga in a few weeks or Maribor do us a favour against Bruges. That would mean a win against Maribor would guarantee qualification. What an evening at St Andrews that would be with another away trip to look forward to in February! Whats everyones thoughts? :kro: |

I think you're right. Could we see the first instance of CH "parking the bus" in Braga, to get that all-important draw ? |

It's 50-50 for me at the moment. I think the way we've been playing in some games this season (after a ropey start of gelling in players) we're definitely capable of getting a result. Braga are good and they pass it around well but I honestly believe there are 1 or 2 better teams in the Championship. Fingers crossed we get a draw and Bruges drop points too. Then hopefully beat Maribor and we're through. **thumbup |

I think it will come down to the Brugge v Braga result. If there is a winner in that game i think we will go through. |

Other way round Des - Braga to beat Bruges is what we need, but there will be no incentiv e for Braga to do anything as they will qualify even if they lose to Bruges - unless of course we ahve nicked a point or 3 off Braga in the first game. |

... but if that happens, we will only qualify if we do better than, or equal, Bruges' result in the upcoming next round of matches. Still a big ask. |

I think the odds are in our favour, a draw or a win at Braga means the qualification is in our hands with the final game. |

Not sure about the odds being in our favour against Braga. They gave us a bit of a lesson in the first half of the first game. Looked a decent side. I do think we are capable of getting a result though. Under hughton the players have shown a massive desire not to give up until the last minute, even the 110th minute. My worry is we finish level with Braga and go out on our record against them. Really hoping we can do it though. |

Your odds are wrong. They are prices being offered by layers on BF that are unmatched. There is no liquidity in the market. I think our best route to qualification is Bruges not to win in Maribor which is quite conceivable. Even if they draw this means that we have a realistic chance of getting through with a defeat in Braga and a win at home to Maribor. Bruges would then have to beat Braga for us to go out. In some ways Maribor v Bruges is more important than Braga v Blues. |

The only hope is that the obvious outcomes have rarley happened. Ok Braga gave us a lesson but then how did Bruge beat Braga away and then braga only manage a drew at maribor. Blues winning both their away games was also unexpected. So I would hope to expect the unexpected..... :lager: |

The maths are against it. Lose in Braga and we are almost certainly out - assuming Bruges win in Maribor, then a draw in their final match would put both Bruges and Braga through, as indeed would a Bruges win. We would however have a chance if Bruges draw in Maribor; we would have to win and hope Bruges don't, or draw and hope Bruges lose, in our final games. If Maribor actually beat them, then we could match Bruges' result and go through. Draw in Braga and we and them are on 8, but them ahead on the head to head. We would then need to beat Maribor, which would guarantee us going through, as with 11 points either Braga or Bruges would not get that far in their final matches. Win in Braga and we're through, whatever happens we can't have both Bruges and Braga on more points than us. We could all finish on 10, but if we do that by beating Braga, then in the mini-league we have 7 points, Braga 6, Bruges 4. But surely Braga away is the hardest match. |

The other option is simple - we win away in Braga! |
