I cannot really say but I spoke to 6 of my pals who went to all 4 games and to a man they said Maribor was by far the best followed by Braga then Nacional and finally Bruges which they all said has been wildly overhyped. They cannot undertsand what was so great about Bruges with overpriced beer and an hour long walk to the ground after "paying" for buses and nowhere open after the game.
Braga for me was absolutely superb with beer at 1 euro a tot in Braga, wine at 1.70 a bottle in Porto and a three course superb seafood dinner with wine for 13 euros. Full of old school characters from back in the day and no divs which Bruges seemed to be full of according to my pals. Each to his own.
They all said the Portuguese were far more friendly than anyone else as well and I can concur with that.

Is there some past history here bluego with Bruges... overhyped and full of divs?

If I recall you started the thread "This love in with Bruges" where everything but the kitchen sink was thrown at the fans and the city.

Anyway...

Bruges to me was the perfect trip - the place, the people, the beer and the result.

Braga to me was also the perfect trip - the place, the people, the beer but sadly missing the result :crying:

I've just enjoyed the whole Europa experience to be honest.

Bluego

What made Brugges special was.
1 The amount of Blues there, didnt we have over 5000 tickets and hundreds arrived without.
2 The Faces there, I saw guys who I havent set eyes on since (in one case 1974!)
and met dozens of oldies.
£ The Square! Brilliant place for a meet up.
4 Belgian Beer, strong as it comes and if your worried about the price stay at home.
4 The camaraderie. because getting to the ground was so shambolic it bonderd everyone together in face of adversary.
5 The opposing Fans, put up a great noise started of the 23 clapping and were truely in awe
of our ol skool style of supporting more Zulu than Nouveux!
6. The win, in the last minute so special
7 The Fans celebrating on the terraces after the goal and after the final whistle watch it on U tube awesome
8 The after party...rumbled on and on till no one could keep eyes open.

Whole Europa thing has been magic Hope to God it continues!!!

As also stated I was the only poster on here with a bruges fan as a pal before the game, Flanders, and he feels the same as me about this pathetic love in.
Everyone I spoke to said Bruges was the worst of the 4 and Maribor the best and I am sure others will have differing points of view which is why I put the topic up. I wonder how many will still love Bruges if they play out an insipid tame draw next week not trying to do anything else other than avoid red cards and injury. Me I'm a big Braga fan now and at 1 euro a tot can't wait to visit Porto again next year with the wife. Brilliant time especially in that little bar before the long drop down to the ground, the one with all the cups on the wall.

He said Bruges last because so many people went and he wanted it to look like the best of the trips was one where less people can claim to have been there.

Ipso facto Bruges was the best one :dancer: :lager:

Maribor was the best one for me with Braga/porto second closely followed by Bruge although i loved every trip & each one had its own uniqueness (is that a word lol)

The only one I missed was Braga.

For me the best was maribor but to be fair they have all been great. Madeira was special because it was the first one. Maribor for the weirdness of it and bruges for everybody being able to go. It was.so close and there were a million and one ways to get there which meant all your mates could come.

As stated before didn't go Braga so can't comment but from friends that went they said it was the worst atmosphere due to them having no fans there and blues being stuck in the corner.

I just hope this crazy tour continues. Bring on the Italians in the next round.

i agree mark, Maribor for me was bar far the best. Gutted i never got to go braga but it was for a good reason (NEWBORN SON)

Madeira for me was special as we was entering the unknown, but during the game it had a pre-season friendly feeling about it.

Bruges was immense as so many of my mates were able to go, a feeling/experience i will never forget.

i hope this tour continues further than next week but if it is all over there is no shame in our performances and im very proud of the team and what the have acheived.

KEEP RIGHT ON.

Hmm after the initial lamblasting I got from a few Bruges lovers it seems most people who went to more than 1 game say Maribor was the best. :dancer: :dancer:

Not at all I have been to Belgium many times including SK Beveren to watch us play. Best chips and beer in the world. Couldn't stand the cringeworthy love in. What comes next eh? sitting next to villa fans at a derby? I am sure some people would actually want that. I wanted to see us roaring Blues on to victory against Bruges not waiting 23 minutes to clap some piece of s--t who drove his car p--sed up at 130 mph and could have killed many more people than himself. I clap worthwhile causes not criminals.

I only went to brugges so ive got to say brugges purely for the atmosphere before during and after the game **thumbup
Bluego does have a point about the 23rd min as if it was a player in england ,lets say a man utd player doing 130mph and could have killed others then we would all have a different view on things

I can tell you never went to Brugge. You mention that at Brugge we took 23 mins to clap? We were clapping all game and cheering. The atmosphere was one of the best away games I have ever been to. The 5000 or so Blues fans taking over the main city square will never be repeated again in a Blues away game.

However, the best thing about Brugge was the fact we won the game. The result. Sometimes I can take Blues losing if we play with passion and pride but at Brugge we did that and play the best football we have away all season.

I would imagine that at least 80% of the 5000+ fans in Brugge would put the trip up as one of there top 5 moments supporting the Blues away ever.

Bluego

Best advice ever when you are in a hole stop digging!!!! support in Brugges brilliant before up to including and after 23rd min
After the winner it was genuinely better than wembley!!!

Love in was simply because it was
1 A new experience
2 In a different country
3 No history of animosity
4 Because of the fantastic reception Blues fans received!

If we play Villa LOCAL RULES APPLY!!

Here, here! Doubt we received the same reception in Slovinia.
And yes the goal Wood scored for me was a better feeling than Martin's at Wembley!

Wouldnt say it was a better feeling! because Martins released a torrent of pent up angst!

Woods however just topped a brilliant occasion possibly one that cant be topped
It would take something special to beat it...but we live in hope!
Just re read Bluegos post, he didnt go to Brugges so how the hell could he compare it!!!

Like many I could only make Bruges because of school and financial commitments.

But have to say its the best away trip of my life, the sheer numbers of Bluenoses was unbelievable. My Dad was meeting people he hasn't seen for the best part of 20 years.

A fantastic experience capped off by a great result.

The main square before the game was just full of Blue, flags and footballs and everything. It didn't really seem like a football match, more like a party.

Wished I could have made it to Maribor and Braga becuase I've heard great stories from those who went.

So has to be Bruges for me.

Only one I could go to due to time off work & finance was Brugges **thumbup

Brilliant from start to finish it was also the easiest to get to IMO.

The atmosphere in the square the night before and on day of the game, seeing all your friends over there aswell that you see at away games was amazing too, the culture, beer & chocolate not forgetting the result :) and all Blues fans uniting to walk on the ground once the buses got stranded :LMAO:

Defintley worth the 12 hours queing & right up there with Wembley! I say hands down 2 of my best games have actually been this year **thumbup

Did go to Cork in July if that counts ;)

Didn't go to any.

Nacional - on hols
Maribor - passed me by
Bruges - on hols
Braga - got the wrong ***** week, thought it was last week as that is when the CL games were. By the time I realised it was too lat, I already had commitments for the actual game week.

I suppose I am just not experienced and savvy for European exploits.

There is one thing for sure - I am off to the away leg of the next round, should we progress.
