So, we are 14th in the league. Albeit with two games in hand but even maximum points we do not get into the top6. Over the past couple of months we have had folk saying "2nd if we win our games in hand", then "top 6 if we win our games in hand" etc. The fact is we are lying in 14th and we are not confident of winning those two games in hand. Why? Well on the other hand we have all enjoyed an unexpected good showing in Europe but it is now taking it's toll. Two games a week, every week, with our extremely small squad is ridiculous. Yes the league position is disappointing but we have/are enjoying Europe. Well done CH and the Blues players for what you have achieved so far against all the odds. |

I think after our good run of form a few weeks ago people's expectations rose accordingly. We are now suffering from a poor run. Lets not forget what happened over the summer when a lot of people said we had no chance of promotion. That chance is still there and the boys and manager have done a great job so far. We now play attractive football and most of the time are a joy to watch. So lets continue to support them through thick and thin and look forward to the rest of the season. |

Good post Lowds. It's an antidote to all the gloom and doom merchants. It's not as if we are getting smashed every match, I think we can even say that we have been a bit unlucky. It may be wishful thinking but I still think we can get into the play-offs. |

TBH i was expecting us to be around the bottom and to have lost every game in euope but we have had some good result in europe that will stay in my memory forever and we also have a good chance of sneeking the playoffs... i think so far this season has been a sucess and all this after the heart was ripped out the team and a whole new team brought in... i think CH and all the players have done amazing so far and i hope they can keep it up.. I dont know what people expected with all the free transfers and loan signings after losing so many big names. Face facts we have already over achieved this season but imo were missing a decent midfielder that can score goals as the strikers we have are not doing it. We would have been down by the end of Jan if we didnt have Gardner. We should have gone in for his brother as Coventry did. But wot will be will be. Once a bluenose always a bluenose. Bring back the Kumars lol.KRO |

I agree and in reality we have been undone by a run of lost gamkes away from home they were all close results and on another day we could have drawn or won Reading Cardiff Hull the only disapointment being Brighton at home which we should have won |

All true of course but we still would have had to have already of played the games in hand so the number of games at this stage would have been roughly the same. |

Know what your saying but, "You can't have your cake and eat it" WTF lol We can try and make it all seem better but truth of it is, there have been chances missed and wasted opportunities in all games we have played. We haven't necessarily played bad but if your not gonna drop strikers who are missing chance after chance were not going anywhere. |

Lowdham is right. He is saying that we can't expect to perform week in and week out (Europa League & Championship) with the squad we have. Hughton has performed miracles keeping us at midtable if you look at what he has to work with. He is also likely to face a harder challenge after the transfer window shuts in January. The European performances have been incredible considering the fact we are an English second division club. Many would have expected us to be the whipping boys of the group. We have given a good account of ourselves, that is for sure. We have enjoyed the European dream but I fully expect it to end on Thursday. Our efforts need to be on getting to those playoffs. Promotion needs to be the aim if we are to keep our finances afloat. Another season in this league (with the likes of Zigic on the wagebill) will cripple this club financially. |

I remember a load of people mentioning Relegation in the summer with the state of our club as it was. Hughton has come in and stabilised us as best he can, and is doing a bloody good job! The sooner expectations get reigned in a bit the better though, im sick of people turning up to games saying "we're gonna win today" as its not that easy. I understand we've been in the Premier League a lot recently, and have had the added bonus of the Europa, but that doesnt instantly mean we should be fighting at the top of the league like say, West Ham... They kept 90% of their squad from the Prem and added well to it (Nolan, Faye, Taylor etc)... we lost 90% of ours and added frees, loans and just 2 players signed for cash |

I'm an optimist, even though I also agree we have to be realistic. Yes, I know we are 14h and we have had a small run of defeats away from home, but there are still 20 games to go. However, I am putting my head on the block and believe we will qualify for the next round of the Europa Cup (I'm not necessarily saying that is a good thing, with the extra matches) and also there will be another trip to Wembley for us Bluenoses, via the play-offs. So there you go. I might be shot down in flames, but that's my belief. if we qualify for the next round of the Europa Cup is it possible we could be facing either of the Manchester teams at Stans?. Be a great evening eh! Best wishes to all Bluenoses. :dancer: |

Blues 2 Doncaster 1 - I am happy with that. Another 3 points for the club who must have one of the smallest squads in the league, and have played 26 games already, and it is only mid December just 4 months since the start. That is 6 1/2 games per month....but worse than that because we had three two week breaks for internationals. ****ing ridiculous really. But I will say again, well done CH and well done the players. |

:applause: if we dont get promoted its not the end of the world. i would expect a safe midtable position maybe top 8 but the important thing is building the club and that means giving chris time to do it his way. id have loved to have seen hughton with us last season but thats all gone now nothing we can do about it :( |

If we went back to the threads at the start of the season it would put things in perspective. We all wanted to play better football (we are), be competetive (we are), and just not drop down another league due to the messy way the club is being run (if we continued this points per game, we would stay up) so really we're doing just about right. With the size of the squad we have we are going to have the odd dip in form. |
