Redmond was head and shoulders above all others, fair play to him, and he hit a screamer which smacked against the post just before coming off with cramp.

Despite the win, I thought it was a very flat game, no real urgency, almost like a pre season friendly.

Wasn't happy with Beau; Fahey; Zigic all of whom didn't show any real desire to be on the pitch at all.

We controlled the game throughout, though, and Doyle rarely had anythuing to do.

A great effort over-all in the group stages, and on reflection, a little unfortunate to not qualify for the knockout stages.

Europe now know who Birmingham City are!

I thought Fahey played well despite his critics.

I think they did what they had to do, win the game, whilst not stretching themselves.

We have a few games coming up starting with Palace on Monday, so im glad the lads did their job with relative ease!

Onto bigger and better things now!

One defining thing this adventure has shown is that given the right circumstances and excitement the fans will be there in droves. Gd to know we've got that in our back pocket when we become good again.

Well done CH

I thought the team as a whole played very well tonight - but we need someone at the front to put a few goals away.
For all the possession we had we should have had a pan full.

10 points, one off the top, would have got us through 7 out of the 13 groups. A good cup run just unlucky to go out.

Funny how we see things differently, I thought Fahey played really well and beau ran his socks off, Ziggy, by his standards, didnt do much wrong. Cant please some folk.

Wasn't impressed with big ziggy tonight unfortunately, however i agree that beau was good, particularly in the opening and finishing 20 minutes of the game.

as for fahey, it is clear to me that he just isn't going to win some people over... he was very accomplished tonight, neat and tidy, putting in tackles when required, and i noticed tonight a couple of times when either he or a teammate gave the ball away, he worked his bottom end of to win it back... I have not been impressed with him this season but he definitely won back a few brownie points with me tonight!!

Proud to be a bluenose, everyone did a job, like they have all through the competition. Unbelievable players are being criticised but nothing suprises me with blues fans anymore :banghead:

It was like watching Italian football tonight - and I like Italian football :) I can't believe how far we have come since CH took over. Incredible. There was hardly a pass off the floor in the first half!

Well done to all the boys! :applause:

They did us proud throughout the competition and bought us some much deserved entertainment and FUN!

Now, let's see if we can't get towards the play off places and look to go back to the Prem eh?

BTW - what European cup do we go to for winning the FA Cup?
I presume it's the Europa again next season eh? :dancer:

Beau was one of the best players on the pitch. At least in the first half.

Redmond is excellent but needs to work on his crosses more.

Zigic was awful.

Well, I'm surprised at how many thought Beau played well. Too much sideways and backwards movement from him and not enough cutting edge going forward....

But that's football I suppose, all about opinion.

One opinion I think we can all agree on was that Redmond was superb.

You just get to this stage and think, what if? away to Braga.

However, you look at Brugge and Maribor away, and how we got 6 points from that is beyond me.

Whatever happened, it was a fantastic campaign, and I hope to experience it again sometime!

Give him time

They're trying desperately hard to knock the "McLeish" out of him

It a pity indeed, poppa

Had we drawn 1-1 in Braga we would be through to the 32 with Bruges

But then again the counter argument would be that had that been the result then Braga would have gone all out guns blazing for a win in Bruges last night

Ah Well !! ....highly unlikely we would have made the Final anyway

Anyone think the same as me that allowing third place Champions league losers into this tournament at this late stage is wrong ?

It's a joke

Surely the Manchester clubs will be the favourites now anyway

I was very disappointed when I got to the ground and saw the line-up. Second string strikers, goalie and others. For what was always going to be our last euro game it seemed the head ruled the heart and that was a pity because it would have been nice to bow out in style and blow Maribor away. We will have a chance of prem footy every year but europe????
Still the boys did ok and Redmond assured we did not go out with a wimper. Fahey who I don't like was fine. Zig did nothing. The rest were so so. So thanks for the ride blues. Keep right on. Its what we do best.

I missed all of the 1st half due to finishing work at 8. Got home to see nearly all of the 2nd half and whilst the pace of the game had dropped until the last 20 it was good to see some positives moving forward.

I noticed for instance how our approach play involved playing the ball into the forwards and the movement to pick up the quick return is what you want to see. Some of the one touch passing was quality of the highest order but to be fair it often broke down due to under hit passes during the 1st 20 of the 2nd half.

If the players keep on trying to play like this blues will have added a new dimension to our game that will surely see us win new friends with the brand of football; it should also see us climb the table with ease if the players respond to the challenge!

Redmond was definitely the best player on show last night for me showing lots of intelligence when on the ball. I thought is final ball was alot better than been given credit for by peter reid tbh but I accept he still as lots to learn.

Well done blues you done us proud. :applause:

Well I have said from the day he arrived I cannot see what he brings to any Blues team,
Last night showed everything I said about him,We were up against a very poor team ,And again what did he do,He poses no aerial threat, dont seem to know where to stand for set pieces,So what does he bring to the team.
