Thing with Man City "only buying the finished article".

Man City are one of the only clubs really who could go out, splash £20m on a young player if they have to, and loan him out for 3 or 4 years and not be bothered by it a jot.

Blues had a bid from a Prem club before this season started.

I was not told the exact team however the info is from a very reliable source who made it clear it was a top 6 side.

Most of the interest will be just the tabloids making mischief, the worrying thing for me is whether the speculation will unsettle Redmond and ultimately his performances and his progression

Liverpool and Manchester City are facing a showdown over Birmingham’s highly rated Nathan Redmond.

Redmond, 17, has two years left on his contract but, after appearing 15 times for Chris Hughton’s side, has a clause allowing it to be renegotiated.
Birmingham would rate him in the same bracket as Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined the Gunners from Southampton for an initial £6m fee, rising to a possible £10m.

If they sell Redmond, I think that will be the last straw for me, I'll be absolutely gutted.

Hopefully Redmond wants to stay here, but it will be taken out of his hands if a decent sum is offered.

Hope this IS just speculation, cause for me selling our young talent is going too far.

Upon learning of his potential departure from Blues, Nathan (desperate to remain) decided to risk his own life by smashing his car through fencing on Redhill Road, hoping for an injury that would effectively block a possible move.

Seriously though, it could've been much worse, and luckily the only damage done was to some fencing and one mini. Be careful out there.

WTF lol

I think he'll stay. Hes a blue nose and is learning his trade. I'm hoping we get to the premier league and under Hughton I think we might find some stability.

KRO with the blues Nathan!

At the end of the day it's got nothing to do with him. If we accept a bid, he'll leave. There is no way he would turn down a chance to move to the PL.

He isn't a bluenose, never has been.

We won't have him for much longer, sad but true.

And in this money orientated game nowadays, we're not the only club like that.

Anyone outside the top 4/6 and your targetted by the big clubs

True, we are not. And hopefully this story is just a bit of hot air. Its probably inevitable that he will leave. But tbh I would like to think that we should be doing our very best to keep him here until he is in his early 20's or something. Why should we nurture the talent and see little to no benefit from it? (in footballing terms)

And if he does go this window then I hope to god we dont give him away like we did some of our other players in the summer.

Paul Merson touched on something I said last year today about Craig Gardner. Along the lines of him being a bargain, considering what was paid for Jordan Henderson.

how can you say even in his early 20's that Joe Hart is not the finished article - he is the undisputed England no. 1 for god's sake!!

Because goalkeepers generally don't find their peak form until they're in their late 20s/early 30s. He's still got a lot to learn.

He's a fantastic 'keeper though - absolutely immense. But perhaps him being England's undisputed number one says more about the lack of quality English 'keepers more than anything else.
