I know a lot of people don't rate Doyle but his double save in the last minute was exceptional and the replay will pay his wages for a while.

He's either brilliant in a game or awful in a game and today he had a great game even though there was little to do he stayed alert.

Great reaction saves from him. It was that stage of the game where his concentration might have been low so he really did well to react.
He is a decent back up keeper however I think Butland should get a run out in the replay.

When has Doyle been awful? One slip up against maribor?

He's never been a poor shot stopper and again proved that today. He can be weak when put under pressure from crosses. did well today.

He was awful in a game last season when he played (can't remember who against), he has made a few mistakes with his kicking and missed the ball a few times. His claiming isn't always the best either.

Proof of a decent keeper that is (and I put a lot down to Dave Watson).

Didnt have all that much to do for 90 minutes, gets called upon in the 91st or whatever it was and was more than up for the task.

Great double save from Colin!

your right there, he made one mistake 4 years ago too and got hammered for it,after 3 months before being a key part of the promotion side...............
Stll at least Bo Myhill has stopped the silly mistakes he made.......Derby,Boro,Hull.. to name but 3...

Good solid game and his double save had people on their feet clapping him.

He just hasnt got the consistency to be a first choice unfortunately, as he does make some great saves and has great games.

Chelsea 1st game of the season after Doyle had such a good season ending in promotion from the championship.... And then following that the rest of the PL games he played in that season, did that well he got dropped...

However, that season prior, he absolutely shon.

For me he's a good shot stopper but his judgement is absolutely woeful.

I can only think of 2 mistakes against Chelsea and his career is in ruins, he had a real chance of being a top TOP keeper, I have never thought he was a poor keeper and a run of 30 games would prove that. I feel very sorry for him this season , nothing against Myhill who is playing very well , but Doyle really deserved a chance this year. Only bad point is that he was happy to sit in the reserves, I think a move out 3 years ago to a championship , league 1 side would have seen him in the championship/prem now. He seemed happy to sit and pick up the money, even at 3rd choice, this in the end may have been his down fall.

Perhaps just maybe as crazy as this sounds he's happy being a blues player?

I think he is happy at the club and is happy living in the area. He has been here for years so it would be tough to uproot his family just so he can get more games. Also his child was ill when he was younger so I think Doyle favours a more stable environment rather than moving his family across the country.

He just hasnt got the consistency to be a first choice unfortunately, as he does make some great saves and has great games.

Surely consistency can only come if a manager shows some faith and makes him No1. He did displace Taylor a few seasons ago and was excellent in the run in, remember that penalty save at Wolves? Unfortunately we got taken apart at Chelsea in the first game of the following season and Doyle was the scapegoat for an awful team performance.

IMO he's a better keeper than Myhill who inspires no confidence whatsoever. I'd start Dolye and have Butland on the bench until he's ready for the first team.

I know he's not happy sitting in the reserves or not playing.

A few seasons ago we had done a deal with Norwich for him to go on a season long loan as he's desperate to play only for Brady to suddenly demand a million pound loan fee! Doyle had even found a house to rent and was ready to go.

He makes a great reaction save and suddenly he's our best keeper, when after one mistake against Maribor he wasn't even league one standard, having been by far the best goalkeeper at the club after Myhill made his blunder against Derby?

Gotta love the fickleness of fans sometimes  Anyone remember Myhill's wonder save against West Ham? Or the fact he's let in 3 goals in home games or something like that this season?

Good shot stopper but I find him hesitating at set pieces and isn't very fast on his feet so can get caught out by a quick/clever player. He is a bit big and cumbersome for a keeper. Solid back up though, looks like he wants first team football though and how can you blame him, he's spent a decade as a backup... If he moves, fair play to him and I hope him all the best but personally I would like him to be our third choice if he stays and we should start blooding Butland by placing him on the bench and starting him in cup games.

Doyle needs a run of games. He's Blues' longest serving player, and not getting enough games. I feel a bit sorry for him, but he's been a true professional no doubt. Great guy.

Doyle has been very loyal to blues and it does seem a little sad that he now has butland to fend off also for first team games.

Personally I feel we can't hold back either him or butland so something has to give and unfortunately it will & should be doyle.

This is one of those decisions managers hate making.

Given the right treatment by Club and Fans he could end up being a "one club man", ie. starting and finishing his career here.

Sadly there aren't more of these in our game. We seem to encourage greed and unfaithfulness in today's system. Remember the real great club servants, eg. Merrick, Page, Beard, Pendrey, etc. Not all internationals, but proud to be a Blues player and to receive the adulation of the fans.
