What a great result for the underdog, fully deserved the three points.
What a difference in attitude to the **** against manure.
If there was any justice in this world the baby blue and pink lot would be dropping like a stone.

Really excellent performance by Wigan.

Watching the match, once again I felt (like the Carling last year), that Arsene spends more time screaming at, lecturing and pointing fingers at the 4th Official than he does encouraging or directing, his team.

Other manager's address their players, Arsene seems to be glued to the fourth official.

Especially when they go behind.

:D

If they can continue and Bolton and QPR get a couple or three good results, the Gas Works team is right in it.

A brilliant, well-deserved result. I really rate Martinez as a manager. He put the foundations in place that have made Swansea the successful team they are now and he's steadily doing it with Wigan. Like our own Chris Hughton, he produces teams who like to pass the ball instead of just hoofing it.

But what an 8 days for Wigan. They started off by being beaten by Chelsea but only through two goals that were both miles off side and then they go on and beat Manchester United and Arsenal. Full credit to them and their manager. :applause:

The thought of wigan surviving another season in the Premier League really annoys me... Two improbable victories I can give full credit for, but don't enjoy doing so.

Worst part is that Blues have had a massive impact on their impending survival this season, which will allow them to have an 8th consecutive season in the Prem...

Jean Beausejour... Without him, I don't think they escape (yet again).

Me too Blacksmith **thumbup

And the fact that he turned down Lerner was truly God working in mysterious ways, because Lerner then got McLeish and we got Chris.

Martinez must be a pretty low paid manager (on their income) and McLeish is the 20th highest paid manager in EUROPE.

Says it all about his loyalty and integrity. Let alone his ability.

Cannot understand your opinion of Wigan mate, would you rather the vile
with their anti football manager stay up instead.
Sorry, but that lot deserve everything they get.
I do not think they will be relegated but can but dream.

Come on Kyle, be charitable :D

Years ago I was happy to see Wimbledon go from the Southern League to the Top League - without spending fortunes and with different styles of play under different managers. I liked the fact that everything seemed achievable in those days.

Nowadays with the HUGE gap between multi-billionaire owners and clubs surviving on gates and merchandising (TV money being a common) I think Wigan is deserving of being the David amongst the Goliaths.

Even the UEFA fairplay what-not is still geared to clubs with high attendances and marketing resources, so for a true minnow to swim and survive, with the sharks, is admirable imo.

Long may this glimmer of romance stay - because next year it may be us
:D

It's just the fact that our last couple of relegations seemed to coincide with their great escapes what has me a bit bitter, but you're right and I can't argue with your logic.

Well done, Wigan! Small club getting another season of mixing it up with the giants, and I guess I can also take some extra comfort in the fact that Jean is the one thats saved them, instead of looking at it negatively as i had been. :applause:

Hope to see them (and take 6 points off em) next season!

koppite,

I didn't realise it was an either/or proposition... Of course I'd like to see the vile relegated far more. I'd also like to see manu, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc. experience a bit of proper football in the lower leagues as well. **thumbup

Their last 5 games have brought wins against Liverpool (A), Stoke, Man United & Arsenal (A). They were also robbed of at least a point against Chelsea.

What a performance that was tonight, absolutely magnificent. Roberto Martinez and Wigan are one of the true success stories, and they must have the best chairman in English football. Loyal, doesn't panic, has belief in his manager....Wigan exemplify everything that is good in football.

If Victor Moses was a bit more clinical (or English)) he'd be worth 20m+.

Optional passport isn't it?

Maik chose to play for Northern Ireland, being born in Germany.
Mikael and others have opted for countries that they were not physically delivered in as babies.

Optional Passports mate, until Under 21.

He's already played for Nigeria I think, which rules him out.

Yep, remember reading he couldn't play in one game as his application to change from English to Nigerian hadn't gone through in time, but sure he played for them in the last international break!
