Just watched Didiers first half performance and I am absolutely amazed by the chap. He has been kicked from pillar to post, elbowed, suffered a kick to the face/head, fell from a great height and landed awkwardly under pressure from violent opponents. Spent most of the 1st 45 as a walking wounded, yet despite all these career threatening injuries,.... lo and behold he pops up with a goal, The man is a walking miracle and defies all medical and scientific reason. 78 mins gone and he's still playing on through gritted teeth. A shining example to his fellow professionals.

He was diving and exaggerating the fouls all game. He got tapped on his shin-pad and was down on the floor for a good minute. Hate the guy.

yeah the Chelsea fans must be so embarrassed... look them leading the champions of Europe in the Semi final of the Champions league... I bet they are really upset they have a player like Drogba scoring their goals!

Obviously Chelsea fans aren't going to be bothered, but I can't stand diving and exaggeration of fouls. I broke my wrist playing football before, but still carried on playing, didn't go to the hospital until the next day. Why can't footballers just get up and get on with it?

Drogba is a brilliant, brilliant player.

imo ok **thumbup

I have never seen him hitting the ground so often though.

Was it for the TV audience and for this match only ? Was it all part of the tactics -- 'every little bit helps, to stop the carousel' ?
Once, even the ITV commentator said no one was near him and he collapsed :boohoo:

I remember John Gregory once whingeing that for a big bloke, Emile Heskey went down like a sack of potatos when only hit by a feather. That came to mind tonight watching the Didier.

The last silly collapse when he was holding his private parts was just too stupid. Has he heard of TV cameras? He wasn't touched on any part of his body yet collapsed for the 15th or 16th time as if he had been kneed in that area.

It's gotta be a tactic. To disrupt the Barca rythmn I'd think.

Still, he won't be diving in the return match.

I take it you don't watch Barca regularly then?

They have a good 4/5 players do this constantly and consistently every single game. How they had the cheek to complain about Drogba doing it i'll never know.

For what it's worth I watch them whenever I can get them on TV and I see Busquets diving all the time, but this is a Drogba thread and I was talking about Drogba, not comparing players/teams for diving, otherwise I would be talking about almost every top team out there.

I'd highly recommend anyone to get hold of Gary Neville's discourse on 'diving' before Mondays game between Arsenal and Wigan. It was a very well presented, level headed piece on the role of gamesmanship within the sport at the top end of the game and well worth watching.

Diving and rolling in agony for 20 feet is a pre-requisite of many mainland Euro teams. It has been for yonks. We all know that.

And that may be why many Euro refs are de-sentised by it, and don't give cards for it.

This thread is about an English team, and a robust and brave player who rarely, if ever, gets knocked about by the Huths, Sambas, Hangelands and even the Johnsons and Danns- but he's flattened and 'temporarily' injured every time he loses possesion or Barca have an advantage.

Flattened and 'injured' by players half his size and weight and strength.

:LMAO:

Not Didier - that was tactics.

I love Drogba, but as I said earlier, I've never seen him hit the deck so much - ever **thumbup
