Portsmouth were relegated to League 1 today along with Coventry and Doncaster, but what would happen if they were liquidated either before the season ended and were unable to fulfil their remaining fixture or during pre season and were unable to take their place in their new league? Who else would go down (Barnsley), would there be an extra team promoted throughout each league, would a team from the Premier League (Blackburn) be saved? My friend and I could not decide today on what the best or indeed the right course of action would be. feed.back |

well for starters the premier league would be unaffected. I would guess that if they were liquidated (which i doubt) an additional team would be promoted (ie the losing play off finalist) from each of the leagues below. The space at the lowest league would be filled by the newly formed FC United of Portsmouth :D I'm sure there is a plan in place as teams in the lower leagues go out of business all the time. |
