Great stuff... but how the heck did they win it? Totally outplayed for the whole game and down to 10 men. It was almost as good as the Villa game which I was watching at the same time. **thumbup

Blue is the colour!

Chelsea are in the FA Cup Final, Champions League Final, and so happy for them. After Blues, I follow Chelsea. So I'm just happy! :D

:blues: <--- better put here Chelsea flag...

(Just something similar to what Alexander Hleb said).

I've always had a soft spot for Chelsa. I "followed" them for around a year or so after they won the FA Cup in 1970. Fair dues to them for stifling Barca after they (Chelsea) scored.
However, Terry is a disgrace. What in God's name was he thinking?

Bunch of tripe, they won by placing 11 men (10 men after the sending off) behind the ball and by playing hoof ball. Reminded me of Wimbledon of old and they got slaughtered for the way they played not applauded.

As for John, what a dirty git, Terry he should be fined and suspended for that un provoked attack. Can you imagine if someone just walked up to another person in the street and did that? It would be a court case waiting to happen.

Great defence from Chelsea - but Barca blew it.

One style of play - never varied it til the last 5 minutes.

They should have shot more from outside the box - chances are they would have scored with a deflection.

They should have crossed more when they were in great positions to do so.

As it was they kept making the same passes and Chelsea knew exactly what they would do.

Sure, Chelsea played well defensively and Barca were unlucky, but Barca should still have won comfortably if they had changed tactics.

Can't stand Chelsea (like most London clubs, bar Fulham) but i supported them last night and will do at the final.

Don't give me all this the best team lost etc, put the ball in the net and don't let one in at the other end. Do that and you win matches, simple, come on Chelsea

For all the 'style' of Barcelona's play, they were ahead in the tie for all of two minutes out of 180. There was nothing 'hoofball' about Drogba's goal in the first leg, nor about Ramires' goal in the second. The Torres goal that sealed the tie was all about Barcelona committing everyone forwards and taking the risk. It would have been foolish of Chelsea not to take advantage. How does a side that sticks eleven men behind the ball score three goals in two games? More importantly, why should Chelsea play a certain brand of football to accommodate Barcelona and 'the purists'? Were Barcelona's minute upon minute of unanswered passing amongst themselves more or less useful than Frank Lampard's one pass straight through the heart of the Barcelona defence for Ramires?

The more pertinent questions are: why did Barcelona not have the resources within their squad to score enough goals against a Chelsea side containing two full-backs at centre half and down to ten men for the best part of an hour? and how, if this Barcelona truly are the greatest club side in history, could they make such a catastrophically childish error as to fall asleep having just scored the goal to put themselves ahead in the tie?

Goals win games. Protecting your own is as much a part of football as attacking the other. Chelsea didn't win because of questionable refereeing, because of a 'dodgy' goal or a questionable offside. They won because they scored more goals in the two games than their opponents. Teams can, and often have, snuck through in one-off cup games where they have been the poorer side, hence why shocks in the FA Cup are so frequent. In a two-legged tie with legs at both teams' home grounds? Nope, not buying that.

I agree with every word. Possession stats mean nothing, the only stat that matters is the number of goals scored by each team and Chelsea came out on top.

Agree, boilerman

I don't like teams 'buying' trophies and I hate Abramovich for the manner in which he callously fires successful managers ........Ancelotti the best example who won them the domestic double and less than a year later he was out

However I will always back the English teams left in the European competitions and hope they win it

I am hoping for a Chelsea v Real Madrid Final.......I mean a match up against Mourhino ......it's a perfect scenario

My one gripe with the CL is that they select venues of teams taking part in the tournament ...If Bayern Munich reach the Final they will have home advantage .....there's something wrong with that picture :banghead:

As for the game v Barca then one could say McLeish tactics won the tie........Well I won't say it, it was a fantastic effort by the ten Chelsea players left on the field after that muppet JT showed exactly why he is .......well, a muppet

Ramirez's goal was simply exquisuite :applause: and Messi's PK ??? ......well , you see, even the best player on the planet can miss them

Hey parti, I,m surprised you havent mentioned your old mucker Terry and his attempted deadleg. :D Jeez the guys unhinged eh!

I would also begrudgingly(is that right?) support them against any other european team if it wasnt for the fact that they are mostly non british players.

I,d like to see the max foriegn player rule brought in meself, and give the homegrown kids a chance, but that will never happen.

I have no problem with Chelsea winning the way they did. Good luck to them. The tactics they used were as valid as any other.

I do, however, have to raise a wry smile at the hypocrisy of the Chelsea fans who lambasted us for doing the same thing to them 18 months ago, when they accused us of not playing the game.

But, as I've always said, the hypocrisy of football fans knows no bounds.

Kenny Burns nutted some villa pr@tt at vpark once. From the back, off the ball.

Got villified, hung out and slaughtered by Saint & Greavsie, Jimmy Hill etc.

A true Birmingham Thug, they all agreed, captured on camera.

Them days we had 3 cameras at about each of 6 matches across the top division.

Nowadays we have about 20 cameras per Euro quarter/semi final.

Did Terry think he was "safe", that he could get away with his thuggery? That No ref would check him, or actually "notice it".

I've seen and I'm bloody sure that many, many football watchers have seen John Terry desperation, John Terry 'red mist', John Terry thugging, clogging etc.

He may be a familiar face at the BBC, a chappie to meet and greet, someone you can't slag off if you are going for a party with.

Easier to slag off a lesser player like Johnston - Dann- Evra - Evans - Skirtel even....

No one, in TV or Ink, criticises Terry. Why ?

In me journeys, this year, I've found that amongst many fans in many clubs and pubs, this season, the common ground has been the London Media and our hatred of it...seconded by the "Terry" and our inability to see why he is put on a par with Moore . That may be a London thing, but he is even more disliked the further North you go.
Guy in a Blackpool hotel was apoplectic about Terry, in an old Moss side pub I thought I'd get wrenched when I mentioned his name...no sense of humour them lot.

Terry = Thug...imo.

Even with home advantage, God, let Bayern smash that epitomy of Premier decadence to pieces.

Bayern **thumbup

If there was one english team i didn't want to be in the final, its Chelsea. Horrible club, horrible players, horrible owner, horrible fans.

I'll still watch the final (if im back home in time from the play off final  ) , but i won't be jumping for joy if they win. I would like to see Torres score a good goal though, i like him and Di Matteo.
