I hope Chelsea beat Liverpool today. That way we can at least say we lost to the eventual winners, taking them to a replay as well I might add. But if they don’t manage it I won’t be too bothered and I doubt many other supports, apart from the Liverpool and Chelsea ones obviously, will care too much either.

I remember watching the FA Cup final as a child and back then it was a HUGE event, by far the biggest game of the season and one that the whole nation seemed to look forward to. But this year with United and City battling for the league title, the debate over the new England manager and the Champions League final coming up it seems more overshadowed and irrelevant than ever. I didn’t even realise it was taking place this weekend until a work colleague told me, such has been the complete lack of any media build up.

So much of what made it unique has been lost over the years that now it’s no more special than the League Cup in my opinion.

I think the league cup occurs at a better time in the season so the rest of English football only has one championship final to pay attention to.

I predicted a 2-1 win to Chelsea, Drogba and Ramires to get Chelsea's goal and Downing to get Liverpool's. So close.

there was a time when people wanted t win things - teams wanted to win a championship title, fa cup or league cup

nowadays there seems to be more prestige in finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the prem than win a cup

Sad

That really bugs me too

how the heck is it a Champions league

when you finish 4th.

the clue is in the name CHAMPIONS :banghead:

Over on another forum a fan said they'd rather be in the Champions League than win the Carling Cup. I'd never swap the Carling Cup for Europe of any kind.

I wasn't interested for a number of reasons.

Two same-old, same-old clubs. Boring.
Saturday 5.15 KO. We were going out at 6.30.
Other games were on that day to distract me.
Today (Sunday) is bigger. Newcastle v Man C and Villa's relegation push.

All in all it has been devalued. So if the FA are devaluing their Cup Final then why should I remain interested?
