Serves then right for leaving to join teams for the sake of staying in the Prem rather than wait for a big move

Bottom line is they signed a better contract--which they will still be on regardless of which division they are in ;)

Not unless they are on a contract where their wages are reduced if they get relegated which is the real reason they wanted to leave us!

Tale of 2 players in one game, Jean Beausejour stayed with us for half a season and will play in the prem next season. Scott Dann couldnt wait to go and the rest is history....well done Jean B.

Dann's massively overrated.

distribution was poor, always making mistakes positionally

no pace, scored some dumb own goals

just a great header of the ball and makes a lot of blocks, brave as a lion (like RJ)

Caldwell and Davies are much better

What a bunch of fickle numpties Dann and Johnson both helped us win the cup and put in some fantastic performances along the way.

Disgusting the way explaiyers get treated here :(

Never been one for slagging off Dann but did anyone else see the Wigan player skip past him down the left hand side on the touchline near the corner flag in the first half? Was it just me or was that some of the most half hearted defending you've ever seen?

I'm with The Bear on this one, especially as I think Dann was sold to help our finances. He did an excellent job for us while he was here and was a major factor in us both ending in ninth position and winning the cup.

Quite simply, having both Hart and then Foster behind them and our team just defending all the time made those two look better than they were. Wasn't Foster last season the goalkeeper who made the most saves in the Prem?

Well just hope God forgives me but I cannot help having a little smile at the fate of the relegated two!

Just proves to players that want to leave a sinking ship that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Shame that there is no longer any loyalty in football anymore.

That's unfair.

Scott Dann did not want to leave - on his way to Blackburn he called the club and told them they didn't have to sell him...............but they did have to for financial reasons.

It was Larsson, Gardner and Johnson who went for the money and the high life of the Premier League.

Dann (and Foster) were forced to go because of the financial ineptitude the hairdresser.

Total agree with lowds here.

THUD!!

Sorry about that, just fell off my chair. Where was I?

Dann didn't engineer a move, didn't say he was leaving for his career or for money or whatever. He didn't leave. We sold him.

I bear him no ill will at all.

Roger Johnson on the other hand.

The real amazing thing about this is why a club like Wolves or Blackburn didn't offer us £12m for the both of them. They are more than the sum of their parts together, and if anything, its damning of the short sightedness of those clubs.

I'll be honest, and forget hindsight, and couldn't believe someone like Wenger wouldn't be interested in them as a pair, and make a move for them. Mind you, before you laugh, they'd probably still be a better defensive pair than what they've got there now.

I thought Dann and Johnson were awesome when they played for us, with Dann with the more potential. I know they had Hart and Foster behind them, but even then I don't see that makes them any less defenders. You can come out with all the stats you like about saves, etc, but with McCliesh in charge, that was always going to happen, especially as he didnt like his teams going past the halfway line.
The pressure those three blokes were under most games must have been immense.

Larsson was out of contract.
