MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon

I was talking to someone the other day about the situation regarding MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon.

I was unaware of the court ruling that MK Dons had to hand all of the previous history - as Wimbledon FC, over to AFC Wimbledon. As a result, MK Don's are starting from scratch history-wise as they are no better than a newly formed club - yet they are a League One side. Any other newly formed club would have had to start at the bottom and work their way back up.

But even though the owner of MK Don's took the original Wimbledon FC and re-branded them, they seem to have benefited from this.

Once that ruling was made, surely they couldn't live off the history of Wimbledon any longer, yet they remained a League One side. They should have been removed from the league and made to start again - like AFC Wimbledon had to do.

I am pleased for AFC Wimbledon and its fans, as their club was pulled from under them, re-located, and branded as something completely different. What are your thoughts? How would any of us feel if this happened to Blues?

Spot on, V, it's exactly how I feel.

I would love to see MKDons disappear from the scene and Wimbledon get success.

There is no way clubs in this country should go down the franchise route as so often happens in America. Can you imagine if someone bought up Blues and then moved the club to somewhere like Telford?

It should never have been allowed to happen.

I'm looking forward to them playing each other, they nearly met in the cup this year I think, but one or both lost a replay.

The whole thing was bizarre, must be weird being a fan of MK, presumably people living in MK already had a team somewhere else and then changed to a team plonked on their doorstep.

The original Wimbledon had a really significant 'cult' reputation, at least here in Finland, I never understood why that team had to be killed off. I even saw them play against the Blues in 2001 (we lost 3-1).
