Doesn't mention compensation in that article at the moment, did they manage to wrangle out of it like they were hoping yesterday?

Edit: According to Sky they've paid £1million. They were claiming they needn't pay anything because Norwich had breached his contract and made it useless.

I've been chatting to a few neutrals about this today, one a Leeds fan, the other a Newcastle. Neither had much of an opinion one way or the other about the Villa but are both disgusted by the manner in which they have effectively stolen smaller clubs' managers twice in successive summers. But this isn't exactly a new phenomenon, I can remember Leicester being up in arms when Brian Little was poached away by them in 94.

Were they to go about things in the 'correct' manner, as exemplified by the way in which Brendan Rodgers has left Swansea with the best wishes of his former employer, then it wouldn't be so bad. But to effectively steal another club's employee, claim to have done nothing wrong and then, inevitably, pay the compensation due; is unethical and should be clamped down on.

Paul Lambert, and Alex McLeish before him, both resigned because they knew there was a job waiting for them at Villa Park. In both cases it was clear that this knowledge came to them before their employers had given Villa permission to speak to the manager. It is tapping up, and it has to stop.

well I wish him well.

His fellow countryman has unfinished business, may Mt Lambert finish it off.

Agent 451 missed relegation by a point, hopefully Mr Lambert achieves it.

Villa took our manager last season, and if Hughton ends up at Norwich they'll be indirectly responsible for costing us one this season too.

i hate to say it guys but i think he is a good manager and he could well do a good job (unfortunatly) over the next couple of years. he will have the crowd on his side which makes a huge difference.

If I were the owner of Villa, or Liverpool for that matter, I wouldn't be taking a chance on a manager that's managed to get a good season out of a promoted side. If they'd have managed to keep their teams up for a second season, then that's something quite notable and worth persuing. Surely Lambert will get more out of Villa's attacking players like N'Zogbia and Agbonlahor then McLeish did though?

Im surprised the FA arent looking into the code of conduct by Villa. Surely you need to request the club's permission to talk to a manager before discussions take place. Lambert isnt going to resign unless the negotiations have gone quite far. I cant see the difference between approaching a manager or a player.
With behaviour like this how can any board manage a club the contracts arent worth the paper they are written on. All players and managers may wish to move on to pastures new at times but surely there must be some form of respect for all parties concerned. I feel really sorry for Norwich supporters having a vile taste at the end of what was a good season.

I really hope Lambert completely messes it all up and they have another season of woe.
