I think you're forgetting that Terry failed to clear the ball from crossing the line.

Its intolerable having to see the scumbag Terry in an England shirt. Im watching England with total hatred for a player playing for us. Hodgson should never have taken him. Shame on Hodgson for that, which has ruined the whole tournament for me and many many others. If we win, it will mean nothing with that **** in the team.

Well that just about sums up the narrowmindedness of the tribal-type supporter of a football club.

I assume you are Blues fan, so what about a Marlon King? He's a lot worse a man and a player than John Terry.

For the record I do not like either. And at Blues, I have to tolerate King but never shout his name or praises. England the same.

Cods Wallop!

You support a team with Marlon King in it, it's easy to separate the man from the player and still enjoy supporting the team.

Oh totally, I cannot stand the man that is Marlon King, but I like the player.

The difference between Terry and King is that I can't stand Terry the man and I think Terry the player is a waste of a shirt.

What would you do if Terry scored the winner in the final of euro 2012??

:silence:

Celebrate, of course.

Just because I think he's gash and a toerag, doesn't mean that I wouldn't celebrate if he scored the winning goal.

He had a good game last night, but its about time, as he's been a freaking liability up until now.

Most??

A couple.

Rooney, Cole, Gerrard, Terry, Glen Johnson

That’s almost half the starting line up

And these are the ones we found out about.

Everyone needs to stop being so precious, it’s like reading a Liverpool forum on here at times.

Except he was too slow to get it before it went into goal. Only a shortsighted goal ref with cataract saved the day for England. This will forever be seen as 'unworthy victory for England'.

That's five out of a 23 man squad.

So not even "most" even by the loosest definition of the word. Just because a few have, it doesn't hold true that they all have.

And "precious", for correcting your overblown statement? Maybe if people were a little more realistic and accurate in what they were saying, there wouldn't be the need to clarify so often.

Unless we're happy with claiming that all Tory's are cheating, lying, thieving, hypocrites now, because of John Major, Tim Yeo, Neil Hamilton, Jonathan Aitkin, Jeffrey Archer, Cecil Parkinson, David Mellor, Jerry Hayes...

Actually, that one's probably got some merit. ;) :P :fishing:

I wasn’t calling you precious, blimey... but after that reaction I think it applies.

Stop being so pedantic over the word most. What I’m saying is, if people are going to react to Terry like they do, the same applies to nearly half the starting line up.

The other allegation, is purely that. An allegation.

Its an allegation with a certain amount of complimentary evidence (ie, it being all captured on film), and you've seen the way people react to Carson Yeung, so its not a totally unexpected reaction.

Besides, its the whole situation with Bridge, he didn't just cheat, he cheated with his best mates missus. That's a huge betrayal. Its the trouble he's been in before, its the fact that, generally, he's acted like a massive dong throughout his whole career.

And if its pedantic to expect people to use words in the correct manner, then I'm a pendant. Don't say "most" when the reality is "a few", or I'll use the phrase "knobjockey" when what I really mean is "decent bloke who can take a joke."

Actually yes, here's his record prior to the wife cheating (which disrupted our World cup preperation):

September 2001: Insulting American tourists after 9/11

The day after the September 11 attacks, Terry and then Chelsea teammates Frank Lampard, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jody Morris, were accused of insulting American tourists following a mammoth drinking session at Heathrow Airport. They were subsequently fined a paltry two weeks’ wages for their actions.

January 2002: Assalut and affray with Jody Morris, again

Four months after the 9/11 episode, Terry was back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, with able accomplice Jody Morris once again by his side. The pair were out celebrating the birth of Morris’ first child at an exclusive London nightspot, before getting in a bit of argy-bargy during which a doorman was seriously injured.

Terry was cleared of affray, having an offensive weapon, wounding with intent and unlawful wounding, and is believed to have wept in court upon hearing the verdict.

February 2002: P*ssing into a pint glass in a nightclub

Only a month after being given the all-clear, you would think that Terry would have been on his best behaviour, but as we would all later learn, self-reflection and absorbing the lessons of his past aren’t exactly his best attributes.

Terry was spotted on CCTV cameras in a Romford nightclub p*ssing into a pint glass at the bar and promptly returning to the dancefloor thinking that his exploits had gone unnoticed. He was subsequently quietly escorted from the premises, but when the CCTV footage went viral, his detestable behaviour (but thankfully nothing else) was exposed for all to see.

2004: Gambling £40k a week

Footballers earn a lot of money and are entitled to do with it what they will, but when you're spending over and above the national wage every week on the horses, as Terry, Scott Parker and Wayne Bridge were alleged to have been, then there's something amiss.

Frankly, we are little disappointed that squeaky clean Scott Parker was involved, but as least he steered away from negative headlines afterwards. As for Terry and Bridge...

November 2005: Car sex, or nearly car sex

In fairness to Terry, he admitted that he cheated on his then girlfriend Toni Poole at will before they tied the knot in 2007, with reports suggesting he had affairs with up to nine other women before setting down. And he wasn’t very discreet either.

In November 2005, he is alleged to have got down and dirty with then 17-year old Jenny Barker in the back of his Bentley in a public car park, but Jenny wouldn’t let him go all the way.

"He smiled and put on sexy Luther Vandross music from a selection on a huge screen in the car,” she said.

“One thing led to another but we did not have sex. I didn't want to give in to him like I can imagine every other girl does."

October 2007: Paparazzi attack

Attacks on the paparazzi are normally the preserve of B-list American celebrities, but Terry couldn't help getting in on the act when a snapper overstepped the boundaries in 2007. Terry is one of a number of Chelsea players alleged by a photographer to have prevented him from taking photographs and subsequently damaging his scooter.

March 2008: Parking in a disabled bay

Terry copped a £60 fine after parking his Bentley in a disabled bay while treating his family to a meal in Pizza Express. Had he parked in the public car park only a few yards away, he would have only had to pay 50p an hour, but was obviously consumed by his overbearing sense of self-importance.

December 2009: The secret tour guide

Terry is believed to have accepted a folder containing £10,000 in £50 notes for organising a secret behind the scenes tour of the Chelsea training ground. The scam was uncovered by the News of the World, the now defunct red top that was once the bastion of clean cut investigative journalism.

Well done, lads. Keep it up and we'll get past the Italians. Hodgson seems to be more than proficient in keeping to the job in hand. It might not be pretty, there may be the odd moment of sloppiness, but we are achieving. Not over- and not under-, just right from where I'm sitting...

This goal line malarkey should all be irrelevant, Russell Martin at Norwich is the don at goal line clearances, he made loads this season, frustrated keeper.

Did anyone notice Scott Parker attempt to make a tackle at the edge of the box using his head?

I think Roy Hodgson's statement before the tournament that he chose Terry over Ferdinand for football reasons holds up, doesn't it?
He's been quality for us, and whether the ball crossed the line or not (it did), it was a marvellous effort from him.

I'd like to see Chamberlain & Walcott in for Young & Milner, maybe just Rooney up top & Welbeck dropping to the bench and stick someone like Chamberlain in anyway to combat their 5 man midfield....who knows, but we've got options as to how we set up. Italy play with 3 at the back so I think it's important we've got some pace in the side when we eventually do get the ball.

Avoiding Spain was a right result, the Italians are a decent side but very beatable.

Cant argue with that **thumbup I can remember M Owen out stripping the Argies defence when he was a kid.

After the Sweden game I thought we were playing with a bit more idea than in the past, but against Ukraine we sort of looked average again. I think we still expect too much from what we have.
