The FA can today confirm that Gareth Southgate will not be continuing in his role as Head of Elite Development and no longer wishes to be considered for the role of FA Technical Director.

The former England international joined The FA in January 2011 and has worked extensively on delivering proposed recommendations to the formats and structure of youth football, which were recently approved by FA shareholders.

Southgate said: "I'd like to place on record just how much I've enjoyed working at The FA over the past 18 months. It really has been an honour and a pleasure. "

Odd that - no main club vacancies going are there?

Very odd BR.

I rate the bloke and equally I have no time whatsoever for Brooking. Perhaps that is the reason why Gareth Southgate left -- old Trevor "Birminam" Brooking. He's hardly inspiring and I bet Gareth was just too ahead of the game for him.

If you can't do it - Teach !

Wearing a Suit will impress.

Be a Yes Man will impress even more.

Don't be a Cloughie and tell them what's wrong - be a Brooking and tell them they're right! Nothing is wrong!

Or be a Pearce and just say "Yes Boss"....

Anybody know what the average age of the FA Council is? **thumbup

This includes all the worthies and the Great And Good from the County FAs who get free transport and hotels and expenses for every England match and so on..... would you be surprised if you knew that in 2005 the average age was 69 ?

Since then the FA do not publish biographies, just names.

:LMAO:

This is imo - Super-Ligger-Land.

Wonder why the media haven't made an issue of it, do they get perks too?

There you go, all the news that's fit to print as The Times once said....or News you don't need to know as the Murdoch era delivered.

I heard he is concentrating on TV work, which is a bit strange as he is a rubbish pundit.

Hard to know what he actually ever did for the development of the English game.
