In the after match analysis Mcleish was asked his opinion on the young sterling playing against heart's.

Whilst giving his opinions on sterling he compared him to redmond. I was wondering what everybody else thinks about this comparison.

He noted that nathan was more experienced.

Clapton, I have no interest whatsoever in a single utterance that man makes these days.

When Liverpool were linked with Redmond last season, I heard a lot of Liverpool fans make the same comparison. Have to agree that Redmond would be the more experienced of the two, but in my opinion Sterling is the better prospect of the two. He has the potential to be one of the best in the PL.

It is a good compliment to both players that they are being compared.

Only thing is at that age is consistency. Week in week out.

Nathan had a few slightly bum periods last season, but kept at it.
Let's hope Sterling can do the same, but I'd think his chances are going to be very limted outside of the Cups.

as some will know, redmond is my favorite player. love him. think he's pure class and probably the best player on our team. likewise for a couple years I've known raheem sterling was going to be a great player. that being said i think theres 2 areas where it is evident sterling is the better prospect and maybe things redmond can pick up on. those 2 are patience and tackling. sterling is lethal going forward, can beat his man easily but he is also very patient on the ball. he knows when to lightly play the ball quick to a teammate with a deft touch, when to pass, and when to slow up and compose himself to make a good cross in the box. redmond shows glimpses of all these things, but appears a little more rushed in his decision making. (could be the poorer quality of surrounding players compared to liverpool tho) the second tackling, wow. in the liverpool vs arsenal game sterling has made 4 or 5 amazing tackles to win back possession on the attacking half of the field, even when he wasn't the one who lost possession in the first place. and in turn set up some great attacks and attempts on goal. redmond composes himself more as a striker in that sense, and sort of waits for the game to come to him (not that i think that is the worst thing in the world, think he'd be great as a second striker because he's probably the best player we have going forward right now besides Ravel who is only on loan but very similar to redmond in that respect) but i think that frustrates our fans a bit
