dan ashworth has been appointed director of elite development at the fa starting next summer, he will be missed by all at the baggies and has been the driveing force behind their sucsess in the transfer market over the last few years. he is very well respected in the world of football and comes as no surprise that the fa have persuaded him to take on the new challengeing role, now we need to find an equally good replcement.

I was going to ask you if it was the job Southgate was after before his curious and sudden resignation...then I read the BBC :D

Ashworth is the second West Brom official to leave The Hawthorns for the FA in the space of four months following Roy Hodgson's appointment to England manager.

He will be based at the FA's new National Football Centre at St George's Park and joins the organisation following ex-England defender Gareth Southgate's departure from the role in July.

I wonder how much input Roy H had with the selection and if that was the reason for Gareth S to resign???

We should be told :D
