You mean 'nobodies' like Christian Benteke ? These new 'nobodies' Lambert is signing could well be the next Benteke ! Wish we could sign some 'nobodies' instead of superstars like Lee Novak & Oliver Lee ! :silence: |

Nobody's to us....maybe ? But I take your point, my friend. Lambert got one Enormous player in Benteke--- ---but no scribe looks at his other signings :LMAO: He needs to get rid of the Givens, Zogs, and Irelands to prove himself with his owner. Alex did the hard work,in the offloading, and relied on the "bus" defence to try and save his job. Lambert has a hell of a lot to prove yet....they were barely out of a relegation battle all season. Cups?? With fantastic and 'dream' draws for a Prem side... Bradford - Millwall ?? The allegedly "Famous" villa Academy is not producing any more starlets, Lambert has basically ignored them. Yet you sometimes see Moxley and Nursey reffering to this mythical Golden Age ---you really have to laugh. Lambert seems to want a squad of foreign young imports. Crazy ...where is there going to be any experience ? Whilst we can't afford two penny worth, for anyone, ... ...villa are buying up LOADS of 50 pence players. Lambert was brill with Benteke,,,fair plays.....but the others, Vlaar and such, that he pursued.....well, their fans hate them. I can't understand why he sidelines Given....and never looks at his Season's 'Goals Against' ??? EGO rampant is Lambert, and it will surprise me if he makes it to next May as an employed manager. One nugget and brilliant player, in amongst how many duds??? Paul Lambert - the PL's best judge of new talent ? - hardly. More like a bloke who believes his own press... :boohoo: :boohoo: |

nicely summed up Midland. With Benteke he may be off. Perhaps that is Lamberts (and Villa's) role. Bring in unknowns with potential with the hope of developing a gem so that a Big club can come in for the ready made player. They are a sort of feeder buffer for the big clubs such as Spurs, Liverpool and Everton. |

They won the Next-Gen series last season, beating Chelsea in the final. Their current crop of youngsters is very, very strong. The reason they were 'ignored' by Lambert last season was because that relegation scrap was not the place to be dropping them into. There's loads to slag the Villa off over, but the youth side isn't one of them at the minute. |

Frans...I wouldn't slag villa off, about their potential "youth candidates". Ever. For a few years, I've cringed about the kids they have brought through, wheras we haven't Lambert has changed that now, at Villa - though - BIG TIME - imo. Clark has changed it at Blues Blues are bringing on kids through 'forced' circumstances. Villa are NOW padding their developmemt squad and blocking kids with 22 year old wannabes through choice. Not 'circumstance' Think about it, if Given or Bent played last season, how many matches would they have saved or won? Regardless of the "kids" ? That was Lambert's choice - but he ended up flirting with relagation all season and lost paying customers . His PR, mainley through Nursey was about a "young side" It was never that - even the toon paraded a 'younger' side - as did we, but we werem't journo cognisant - nationally - and neither Tattum nor Ross ever compared that kind of PR Spin. Villa's "ex -kids" are now gone, replaced by DV players only a year or so older Lambert's ego and his self belief will destroy villa. Hopefully. He is basically saying (through his purchases), that his new wannabes are better than his Academy. So be it....he is blocking off developement through choice and ego. He has bought TOO MANY for a 1st Team, so it's DV time for a load of them. Ahead on wages at least. from Academy wannabes. Meanwile: Clark is having to forge development through need. Lambert seems to be relying on his press clippings. If the managers were reversed, I'd support Clark to do a better job at villa, and Lambert to walk or even Run Away at us. We are bluenoses, we KNOW about being the underdogs. :LMAO: |

I'm not really sure what your argument is here. Given was finished before Euro 2012, hence he didn't get a game last season, and Bent made it clear he couldn't be bothered any more. Benteke was a far wiser option for the centre forward role than Bent. Lambert picked a group of kids who aren't very good, and hoped they would be just about good enough. The cohort coming up behind them, the ones who are 18 now, are very, very good. Yes, they won't all get thrown into the first team next season, but if the Villa are comfortable by the middle of the season then I'd imagine some of them will start to find themselves in squads. That would be the smart, long term option. |
