Lowe was free & we got 2m for Kieftenbeld

Kief was a grafter but had not one ounce of talent and Gleeson is totally bereft of any skills whatsoever at this level. Just need to see Grounds and Jut gone and that's pretty much the deadwood clear out we need.

Lol we bought kieftenbeld and shotton for like £500k combined and sold em for £5million

sold clayts for a few hundred k, sold frei for a few million

Harry has brought in 14 players but i doubt he has spent over £15 million

btw kieft was a 45 min man, put everyting into one half and went awol after, had the passing ability of tebilly and the stamina of jan molby

Not sure about this, Kief would have been good on the bench

We paid 3 million for frei and sold him for £900,000.

Sounds crazy, but I'm now worried we are a bit light in CM...am I being daft?

Trouble is we need them good on the pitch and he was not that good certainly not good enough to be part of a squad looking to get promoted.

Are Derby not looking to get promoted then?

They will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season

Lowe certainly isn't good enough to be part of a squad chasing promotion and I would take Kief over him every day of the week

Wasn't Lowe captain of Blackburn? Surely he can't be that bad, otherwise he wouldn't have been given the role. I'm prepared to trust Harry with his signings so I'm giving all of them a clean slate to show what they can do.

So what is it that Lowe has done to show him to be so poor?

He's just a very very average player and not an improvement on Kief

U make a comment about Kief not being good enough to be part of a promotion side but neither is Lowe

We beg to differ

We do differ ref Dutchy but until I have seen Lowe play as much as I have seen Dutchy play then I trust Harry's judgement on his selection.

Exciting times ahead me thinks. **thumbup

Lowe is certainly the most low-key and least-spectacular of all our signings.

That said, the likes of Clemence and DJ were lost in the midst of bigger-name signings at the time, but proved invaluable. Kief had built up something like a semi-cult status because he did run around like a nutter at times. But I also watched enough games where teams simply bypassed him, and he gave it away again and again. When he was good he could be very good, but when he was bad...

I have a few mates up here who hail from Darwin/Blackburn, and their view is that Lowe was utterly unspectacular, but was solid, could tackle and decent enough with the ball. His passing stats are 80% compared to Kief's 70% average, so as long as he can tackle and pass the ball to our more 'gifted' players that will do me.

If we've traded in an all-action but erratic terrier type for a less mobile but more dependable keep-it-simple type, that works for me. And another thing: by all accounts he is a top bloke. There have been rumours and murmurs about ill-feeling in the dressing room, so if he helps the atmosphere whilst performing a useful utility role then the trade-off with Kief works in our favour.

True. If we have a player who is a regular 7 out of 10 player, that's better than one who is 8 out of 10 in one match and 4 out of 10 in the next.

Give me dependable but unspectacular over erratic every time.

Not quite sure what Lowe has done to earn so much hate from fans already, just because he came from Blackburn! Still played over 30 games in the prem and 140 games in the Championship, not bad going.

Reserve judgement till you've seen him play. I echo the comments of reliability though, we need someone in centre mid who can win the ball and then simply lay it off to other players, simple passes nothing spectacular. The Barry Ferguson mold of player, not saying Lowe is that but he's a great squad player and that's clearly what he's viewed as, he only got offered a one year deal, people need to calm down!

Not quite sure what Gleeson has done wrong to earn the amount of stick he gets, he's been a great servant to the club, yes we may have moved on from his level for him to be starting week in week out but he's still ok at this level, certainly as a squad player

I think that is the point with Gleeson. The club has outgrown him. The same applied to Tesche, Kieftenbeld and Donaldson. I suspect Grounds, Cotterill and Duke too. I also think Davis and Maghoma will struggle to be starters now and Morrison will have to be at the top of his game all the time.

just read this Deal might be off ??

Former Blues boss, Gary Rowett, is still awaiting confirmation of Kieftenbeld's transfer from The FA. Redknapp looked to have offloaded him

People getting the wrong end of the stick from what I've read

It's just the deal hasn't been confirmed as the FA have so much paperwork to sort through due to the amount they get on deadline day they haven't got round to it yet, if they'd submitted it after the deadline everyone would know about it by now I'd expect like with the Andre Silva deal at Leicester

Official statement from the Derby website has confirmed the deal has not been ratified and the player has returned to BCFC.

Not sure where this leaves the player as we appear to have an abundance of midfielders now https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2017/09/club-statement-maikel-kieftenbeld
