Imagine we have everyone fit. We finally have a squad large enough to compete not only with other teams, but players individually for their positions in the team. It's tough and I do hope we see a couple leave, as well as some more come in.

------------------Stockdale------------------
Nsue, Morrison, Roberts, Grounds, Keita
---------Gardner, N'doye, Davis-----------
--------------Adams, Vassell---------------

Subs: Kuszscak, Jenkinson, Maghoma, Cotterill, Kieftenbeld, Juke, Gallagher

Is what I'd base the team around. Of course, leaving out players like Donaldson, Gleeson, Tesche, Brammal, Wes Harding, Robinson - shows how much depth there is.

Keita over Brammal - Keita is ours, I wasn't overly impressed by Brammal against Bournemouth - he did okay, gave the ball away far too needlessly at times but defended well. I just think Keita will provide more of an attacking threat on the left hand side. The midfield has experience, hopefully to provide the right service into the strikers and to control the game. Need to shot from far? Gardner and Davis certainly can. Juke would be good in the air if that's the kind of game it is. Wes Harding - would rather put him at RWB any day over Jenkinson to begin with, he's one of ours and played ever so well against Bournemouth, but he's on loan here and probably will be left out with the cover we have (if everyone is fit).

Won't go into too much detail, would like to know what everyone else thinks and who they'd pick?

If this team could be fit all season we'd be top 6. Adams & Vassells pace would murder defences, Keita's trickery & NSues pace would be very useful on the wings, We'd also be strong in midfield & defence.

It seems to have the perfect balance for this new system. I'd play around with the midfield a bit, maybe with Maghoma, Kieftenbeld and Cotterill as an important part of the first team.

Agree with that. But I think a left sided centre back will come in

Am I the only one who thinks n'doye has been woeful......no pace, seems unfit, has an awful first touch and distribution is not good enough.

For me our cm is extremely week. To play 3 5 2 you need a midfield that is good in possession. Gardner has has been poor and is only good when he has time on the ball. I rate Davis bit think he could be used as a wing back. His extremely athletic very strong and has an engine on him, but again with the ball at his feet limited. If I was harry I would be focused on getting at least 2 ball playing cm in and getting rid of the majority we have. To me n'doye should be loaned out, as he really isn't up to it. It's glaringly obvious. And for those saying he needs time or to get match fit......sorry but your first touch and simple passing has nothing to do with being match fit and he is poor at both.

Kieftenbeld has improved loads over the last year and I think he should be given a chance more so, but again he is a similar player to what we have already got

i said that about n'doye when we signed him and was absolutely hammered for it.

his first touch and passing is beyond woeful.

unfortunately, there's zero chance he gets loaned out. he wasn't brought in with a lot of money committed i'm sure, so that makes me feel better. And he's much better than Kief and Gleeson. He's probably equal talent wise to Davis.

The pros would be that he does win nearly every header in the full 90 mins. And that I would argue that we haven't probably seen his best. his passing was always woeful, but he's doing good work in the air and playing the enforcer. Wedon't have any better options so it's not really worth complaining about. But I agree if we had Acquah and Badu or Onazi, then we wouldn't see N'Doye much

This gets my vote and if Aquah turns up he goes in, in place of Gardner. the bench will then be made up of Dutchy Gardner Davis Nsue Cogley The Don and Kuzzy.

Crikey! Loan N'Doye out? After three and a half games? :silence:

Fair do, we all have opinions and there will be players others rate who I don't. That said, I think an awful lot of people are getting carried away because of the Burton game. Not necessarily lumping any individual here into this, but I know people who only pay attention when Blues are on telly suddenly deciding he's no good. In a game where everyone - every single player, bar Stockdale - let themselves down, and where he was coming back (and still suffering from) an injury he picked up a few days earlier. A poor, poor game from him for sure, but I have seen definitely seen enough against Ipswich and Bristol to feel he is both far above "woeful" and far better than Gleeson, Tesche and Kief.

Against Bristol, when Harry changed the formation in the second half he was a monster. Even Bristol fans on their boards were impressed:

Was as anyone else impressed by N'doye? Definetely premier league quality I feel. Knocking balls to the wings and holding players off easy. We could do with a player like that but obviously we're not in the market for anybody other than a keeper I feel.

The problem is, he is only one part of the midfield jigsaw - which is why Harry is still looking for a ball-playing DM. N'Doye is not a standard defensive mid, he's a destroyer and a ratter. Neither is Davis, who has actually had his best game this season playing just off Che and enjoys causing all manner of mayhem with his tight pressing higher up the pitch. Gardner is not a standard attacking mid, he's a bit of a 'jack of all trades' who can pop off the occasional super-rocket.

With that in mind, I would go for something like this at present:

------------------Stockdale------------------

Jenkinson---Morrison---Roberts---Brammal

------------- Gardner -- N'Doye-------------

---------------------Davis--------------------

Adams -------- Gallagher ---------- Vassell

I do appreciate Davis is not a conventional attacking midfielder, but I also believe he looks better in that role than Gardner, and is just as fond of cracking one in from distance. Whatever his technical limitations (which I think are over-exaggerated, as he's shown some real skill and nous on occasion)he has that knack of making things happen around the box. He will also provide the first line of defensive shield as Adams and Vassell look to bomb on with their pace at any opportunity. Gallagher is good in a two, but is also a proper 'lone man' striker in the modern mould, and would be an ideal fulcrum for the wide two to buzz around.

It also shows how important a classy, clever defensive midfielder and a ball-spraying midfielder is. Replace Gardner - who is perfunctory but far from perfect in that role - with a player who can spot the runs Vass and Adams will make and suddenly we look a far more coherent and dangerous unit.

Jenkinson is in my team?.. Bramall would compete with Keita for the wing back place & also be a weapon as a sub with he's pace.

Have to say this team has changed my mind about my line up, that would be lethal uptop with Che & Vassell creating for Gallagher

No your not, I was expecting the 'Championship player of the season' but in fact when he is playing it's like having 10 men...lets hope he come back to make me choke on that statement, but somehow I doubt it. interesting, every team above includes him. :silence:

Will be my second game of the season. If we turn up I think should get a win. Any suggestions for a quick pint prior to match? I'm traveling down by coach from Leeds due center Birmingham bit after 13.00

Midfielders
50 Gleeson, 26 Davis, 19 Maghoma, 8 Gardner, 23 Cotterill, 17 N'Doye, 20 Boga

Forwards
14 Adams, 10 Jutkiewicz, 44 Brock-Madsen, 11 Vassell, 18 Gallagher, Jota
