Best case scenario; Lee Carsley to be the man

What an absolute mess we've made of the last ten months.

I am convinced we were on the right path with Rowett. A pragmatic manager. A man who connected with the fans as a former player and squeezed the most out of each and every player. A young, promising English boss, who deserved backing for all the excellent ground work he had put in.

No one can argue that going for 'names' in Zola and Redknapp has not worked at all.

My ideal scenario is for Lee Carsley to get a run of games and excel with the team.

He shares a lot of Gaz's characteristics. Former player. Local lad. Understands the club and our ethos. Highly rated by many (including Pep Guardiola, which doesn't look bad on a CV).

But something tells me the Chinese owners don't understand the Blues fans and what makes us tick. My concern is that even if Carsley comes in and wins the next three matches, they'll still be lining up a Ryan Giggs or Roberto Mancini.

Come on Cars, do the business and we'll be screaming for you to get the job!

It's not that the owners do not understand the Blues fans, it's the fact they do not understand football, that's the problem, I don't think it matters who the manager will be, it will fail while these are the owners as they are clueless when it comes to owning a football club.

We are going nowhere under these faceless wonders, until they go,our club is screwed end of.

The problem is they've shown a willingness to put decent money into buying new players but appear unwilling when it comes to listening to hard, experienced common sense about the English Championship and what makes its teams work.

I've just listened to Carsley's interview:

It'd appear he doesn't feel ready to manage full time yet. He'd prefer to learn from an experienced boss for a few years before putting his name in the hat for the manager's job.

It's refreshing to hear him say he wants to stay at the club for 5-10 years going forward.

I too just listened to the whole Carsley interview and was really taken by what he said. He fully gets Blues and that is clear and also I think he is the sort of guy that could bring and lets face it he almost said it in the interview the split dressing room together. As you say Will he clearly doesn't see himself ready for the top job but it was nice to hear his passion for the club in general, interesting to hear that he said he thinks we need a manager to be able to build a club as well as a team and some of the names mentioned are laughable for the job

He actually had to stop himself at one point from referencing how split the dressing room is!

Very telling!
