Lee Carsley has acknowledged the difficulty in bringing so many new players in and getting them to gel immediately and he said the team need to go into the next game with clear objectives and not be overloaded with too much to work on.

From our official website:

Quote:

Ideally I have got a clear way on how I want to build, how I want to play through, how I want to attack, the defensive strategy, how I want to press," he told BluesTV. “But I have got to be mindful – and I spoke to the players about this – I am not going to spew as much information as I can and hope that they catch two or three things. It’s more important for me that it’s clear and simple as can be.

I have watched a lot of Blues games in the past and I wouldn’t say I’ve sat there and been massively entertained by the style of play and all the rest of it. I have got to find a blend between getting the results, which is obviously what we need, and looking good because I have got a lot of family who are Blues fans and I know a lot of Blues fans and they want to see good football, they want to see the team controlling the game and creating chances. Ultimately that’s what I want to do.

I like individually the players who have been brought in and the players who were here, theres a lot of quality. Sitting them down in our first meeting, you look around the room and its a top end Championship squad.

But, and I've emphasised this and it is difficult, 14 players have come in. To expect them to play like a team and to expect the chemistry to be right from day one is something we are going to have to try and fast forward and manipulate as quick as we can.

This quote sums up what I like about Lee Carsley and what disappointed me about Harry. Harry always seemed too quick to put the blame on the players for not being good enough - Burton away being a good example. He slated them after the game for their 2nd half display (Preston, anyone?) but the players seemed to struggle with Burton, like Preston, having different tactics, a plan B. We didn't.

Maybe it is the players fault? Maybe it's the manager or the coach and their (lack of) ideas?

After reading what Lee Carsley has said earlier, I think he'll be more like Rowett is to his players. Full of encouragement and rarely slating them in public, even when, deep down, they've played rubbish ;)

Love that quote from Harry ;) ;)

I like that he want a ‘front footed’ style to replaced what he infers is the poor entertainment in the past. I think that’s a reference to the Rowett era.

LC. LC?

Please stop referring to him as LC, that's what we called Lee Clark and it's beginning to make me feel sick.

Well, that's all well and good now having spent net £12m this summer on improving the squad.

But under Rowett, we didn't have the players to high-press and out-football other teams.

... and I am saying he illustrating that as a style he doesn’t want to play that way. Solidity, pressing etc but not by acceding possession to the opposition. He recognises we go to home games to watch BCFC play, not our opponents.

Carsley may have to be careful.

He appears to say that he doesn't want to be manager yet, but wants to stick around at Blues for the next 5-10 years.

However, if a new manager comes in he will probably want to bring his own team with him (as they always do) and Carsley may find himself out in the cold.

Regrettable, but possibly true.

Got to say I am impressed as well. He talks a lot of sense and I think will have a massive impact on the players, keep it simple not bombard them and hope some things stick......sounds like Harry was trying to instil way to much to quickly, a little like Zola .
