Passing through Kings X last night and seeing the Tartan army congregating in and around the pubs all along the Euston road brought it back to me how important this fixture is to the scots.

It also reminded me of how they use to take over Wembley in their thousands always out numbering the English. I have only done this fixture once and it was a real eye opener for me. Having drunken scots coming up to me singing ' if your mummy gives you a tommy gun shoot a English man'. was sung with so much passion it was unreal.

Hoping this game will rekindle the draw of playing this fixture on a regular basis. Those were good days and the younger lot coming through now will never know what is like to see Wembley 70% full of jocks which is a shame in some respects.

The only England Scotland game I went to was the Euro 96. I was extremely fortunate to be there to see the Gazza goal. The Scots were not so gobby after that game.

Personally the fixture does nothing for me and as Italy play Argentina also tonight, I would tune into that game, if I had a choice.

I get the impression that football is not so important to the Tartan Army, it's travelling and having a good time that is the priority. And I can't blame them for that. :drink:

We can all sing back "Do you know alex mcgleish was s**t" :LMAO:
And lowds i was living in blackpool in euro 96 where the cocky barstewards were kicking off everywhere but again it seems only the english can get done for hooliganism so lets turn the jocks over big time like the U21s did last night.
Freindly ? there is no friendly when the english & jocks do battle,COME ON ENGLAND

I really think they should have this as an annual fixture, on a home / away reciprocal basis. It would be a lot more attractive than many friendlies (or, indeed, quite a few Qualifier games...)

On the way to work this morning they had taken over the underground! Just popped over to smithfields for a meeting and there are literally hundreds at the William Wallace memorial

Watched the match on TV and it's good get a win, but I still have concerns about the
forthcoming World Cup qualifiers. To me they looked circumspect at the back, including Hart's howler on the first goal. They still have to play Ukraine away and Poland at home and I would consider these sides a more formidable test than Scotland.

Hi Norma! Great day/night @ wembley, your jocko brethren did you proud on & off the pitch! So pleased for Ricky Lambert (didnt i tell you bout him before the match) rags to riches story!

Where is wee Barry going to play his footy this yr? Would love to play scotland every year again like the old days of Home Internationals, before your time I reckon!

Hi Des! Glad you enjoyed your trip to Wembley **thumbup

I only saw the second half but I'm told it was a good game. It's always good when a MORRISON and a RANGERS man score eh! :) Shame we didn't keep it at 2-2 tho!

Ah ha it was you who mentioned Ricky Lambert to me! I had never heard of him till then lol I was thinking you were referring to someone from the 1960s!

Wee Barry is playing for Blackpool FC and he's their Captain. When they played Preston recently he was running the show, as he normally does. He signed a new 1yr contract a few months back and he's going to keep signing 1 yr contracts until he retires from playing and becomes Rangers manager. His words not mine! He has a column in our paper (The Daily Record) every Friday which is always very good.

From last night's performance on and off the pitch it seems everyone wants this Scotland v England to become an annual event!

Hart is too 'comfortable' and has gotten incredibly complacent.

We lack a 'leader' and top defender at centre half... Hodgson's finding it very hard to replace Ferdinand and Terry adequately.. shame really as a top centre half is something we've had a few of over the years, and dating back in history too!

Wilshere is crucial to anything positive the England side can achieve (not holding my breath on this though... 1. He's injured alot... 2. The state of our game in this country is a mess).

Gerrard is picked solely on the name 'Steven Gerrard'... had a great Euro 2012, but has tailed off since for England... time to cut down on his role... he has a role to play, but for me, not as a regular starter... usher the new generation in!

Lambert, whilst he scored, is not exactly part of England's "long term future". Whilst other sides try out younger lads trying to get them experience for the next 2 or 3 'competition campaigns'... we turn to an ageing 31 year old striker who will do well to reach the 2014 World Cup... yet alone any more tournaments.

I really hope we don't wait so long to play/beat/ scotchland again.

KRO ...... i really enjoyed that game..... defending from both teams were rubbish..... but that is what made it a enjoyable game..

Scotchland led twice and still messed it up
