He clearly thinks a lot of himself. Sunderland are in a worse position than we were in 2007 - he took us down twice, nearly took B6 down, ruined Forest's promotion chances; yet he still thinks he is capable of being the saviour at the Stadium of Light.

Inspire some confidence? I don't imagine that he could inspire anyone.

Poyet is the odds on favourite now. The Sunderland fans will never know how lucky they've been to avoid agent 4-5-1.

Why don't you check your facts

McLeish only took us down once

It was Bruce's squad that that took us down in 2008 , McLeish actually breathed some life into that poor squad by signing McFadden, Murphy and Zarate and we produced some strong home results beating Man City 3-1 and Spurs 4-1......The defeat away at Fulham was the key game we lost.......Fulham are the team that always seem to drive home the final nail into our misfortunes

McLeish also won us a our first trophy for 48 years, qualified us for Europe and guided Blues to our best top division finish for more than half a century and also equalled a top flight home record more than 100 years old

He may have *****d up the Vile but I, for one, will not chastise him for that .....They have an owner who simply won't invest and is consistently looking to cut the wage bill and Paul Lambert is doing an even worse job over at The Rat's Nest than the Ginger One

As for Forest he resigned after 40 days because he felt he was not getting the support he was promised from their owner and he had enough when they pulled out of a deal to sign George Boyd ......they only had an outside chance of promotion when he started there and they still ended up missing out on promotion

Mcleish could do a decent job at the SOL given the type of squad they have although I'd agree Sunderland fans are highly likely not to be that impressed with his recent CV if he did get the job.....

But didn't Hull have faith in Bruce ?

And Mark Hughes consistently goes from one PL club to another

What the hell has Poyet ever done in the top flight of England as a manager ?? Has he even worked a PL club ??

Why don't you check your facts

I don't know how limited the coverage of football is over in the States, but

McLeish relegated us twice
He nearly relegated Villa
He took Forest from 2nd to 8th in a few weeks
He finished 3rd in a 2-horese race at Rangers
He took over Scotland with them in 2nd place in a qualifying position, they didn't qualify.

He's a serial failure and to rub salt into the wounds he is also King of drab football.

Forest were 8th in the Championship when AM took over on 27th Decemeber 2012

and they finished the season 8th

As I told the OP, you need to check your facts, lowds

They finished third behind Italy & France, only 2 points behind italy.

Not exactly awful is it?

Also, failures don't win trophy's, and how many has he won in his career? Well, in english football he's won more then David Moyes & Brendon Rodgers put together! I do admit though that winning trophy's with Rangers is not rocket science.

Good post , Des .....got to agree although I highly doubt lowdham will

McLeish played to a style in synch with the club's financial resources

The 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons were great success stories for AM.......along with the famous Carling Cup win as well......Nobody outside St Andrews gave us a cat in Hell's chance to beat the Mighty Arsenal before kick off

I want McLeish back at Villa as he has unfinished business there.
