Begovic is probably one of the best three keepers in the Prem. Butland's probably two seasons at least away from commanding a place in a Premiership side - so he was never going to replace Begovic. He should have either stayed at Brum (which may have been out of his hands) or gone to Norwich to continue working with Dave Watson (which may not have been an option). Always thought going to Stoke was a bad move. |

Gotta feel for the lad; his stock was so high last summer and he had a really good season for us last time out, behind what was at times a very shaky defence. The greed and bad management of our owners not only meant we got peanuts for a great prospect but also perhaps set his career back a couple of seasons. |

I really can,t understand why the Boggies didn't come in for him as soon as Foster got injured??? Jack is much better than Boaz!!!! He had to go from here, don't think he had a choice, stoke looked a good move , AB was linked to manure at the time if you remember? Anyway I'm more than happy with Randolph, and Colin played very well last night, but Butland is going to be a very top keeper, but he does need to play!!!! |

!
Begovic is probably one of the best three keepers in the Prem.
Agreed... Beyond simply getting a bargain bin deal, it was good business for Stoke due to the fact that Begović appeared to be on his way out around that time (or at least nearing the exit). So long as Begović remains, Butland will be a long time waiting for a look in. He needs matches to continue his development, and Barnsley is as good a place as any to do that, I reckon. In any case, staying wasn't an option, and he'd have had a similarly difficult barrier to overcome had Norwich wanted and successfully signed him, in the form a John Ruddy. As far as Blues are concerned, Randolph has more than made up for the loss of Jack... I'd love to see him here for a very long time indeed. Edited by Kyle-KRO, Sep 26 2013, 06:25 PM.

Randolph is the better keeper by some distance, I never rated Jack too highly if im honest, hes a brilliant talent, future England keeper, no doubting it and had some really good games for us, really liked the lad as well, very humble. But for me Randolph is some distance ahead. However I wish Jack all the best at Barnsley and hopefully he gets his career on track again but has a rubbish game against us haha! |

For anyone wondering why the Baggies or Norwich didn't go in for him... It's a bit obvious why Stoke wouldn't be willing to allow him to go to either of these clubs isn't it? It doesn't matter where he goes as long as he gets games, and lastly, are people on here really slating a 20 year old goalkeeper playing first team football? Really? Most keeper don't come into there own until the mid to late 20's, there are very very very few exceptions, and then keepers who do look good young, it is inevitable that they go through a purple patch i.e. Joe Hart. |

Stoke bought him because : 1. He was dirt cheap 2. He has great potential 3. In January, it looked like Begovic would 100% be off in the summer to Arsenal or Liverpool. Summer then came about and Arsenal proved stingy in the transfer market until the Özil deal and Liverpool got Mignolet instead. Jack's career has since stagnated, but thats the sad state of affairs in England nowadays with so many of our best young players not getting regular game time. He'll be a very good signing for Barnsley and earn them some points in what will be another relegation dogfight for them |

I Loved JB when he was at blues, but TBH I always had a little bit of doubt about his potential future as it was pitched. Some time I think the best need St. Andrews, or am I biased...? Of course I am, but whatever! feed.back |
