just say your moving house.....can be used all the time aswell.....well as long as they don't know where you live....another one could be that you've got to go to the hospital with your kid/wife/friend etc etc and when asked why just say 'its a private matter really she/he wouldnt want me to say' :D :D works for me all the time!!!!

How about - you've developed an allergy to wood and the doctor advised you not to touch it for 1-2 days until the rash has gone down! This could serve a double purpose; one - your line of work, and two - in the hope that you don't have to touch wood in order to ward off evil consequences.

You cannot use the word "wood".Chelms will be up in arms when he reads that. It HAS to be called "timber"

He has his funny little ways

All this talk of wood reminds me of an "Human Art" film I watched once. Or twice.

Ok, so I watched it till I got hairy palms . . .

I find that the best excuse is that your waiting in for a service engineer,
but you must lay a foundation of lies before you have your day off,

I'm just happy to see the expression "Swinging the lead" used to be honest.

Anyway, report to sickbay. If you're ill you can go home. If not, get back to work. Why more employers don't enforce this I've no idea. I'd fire anyone without a doctor's note if I ran a company in civvy street.

Nice idea and I've tried it a few times but unfortunatly employment law won't let you.
