TILTON; MASS EVACUATION

I couldn't believe my eyes on Wednesday at the Tilton MASS EVACUATION with 5 minutes to go and then even worse at the 3 mins extra time board. It was embarrasing from where I sat and the players and management must have wondered what the hell was going on, especially as we were hanging on to a vital 2-1 lead and needed all the support we could get.

It's so bad now that I wait until the end of a match to get home quicker because all the traffic has already left Small Heath ten minutes earlier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is going on ... ?

I noticed that as well on wednesday. I think it has a lot to do with the tilton itself, the only way out is at the back of the stand unless you walk around to the kop.As you say its quicker to wait until after the game to leave. can you imagine how long it would take to get out if everyone stayed until the end.

Also do not forget the Southampton game was kids for £5 and it was a school day next day, a lot of people i saw leaving had young kids with them so you can understand their eagerness to get home asap.

The thing is, it happens every match. Whats the point in paying loads of money if you're gonna miss parts of the game. Its like paying to watch a film then leaving 10 mins before it ends!! The people who sit in front of me in the kop corner don't get to the match until 10 mins after it starts, leave 10 mins before half time, come back 10 mins into the second half and then leave before the end. There's about 7 of them and they all do this at different stages so we're constantly gettting up and down so that we can see what is going on on the pitch! So annoying! I haven't paid £500 to look at some guy's coat no matter how nice it is!

It's even worse in the Railway End, just infront of where I sit.
A family of about 6 or 7 arrive 10 minutes late, chat thru the match and leave 5-10 mins before the end. Why bother? Also noticeable that they are the type that hardly get on their feet or sing. Plastic fans...

I will tell you why people leave early. It is because the exit gangways are not big enough. I hate standing on the steps trying to get out, then I hate sitting in traffic jams to get home. I leave my seat as the board goes up and start making my way up the kop corner gangway, by the time I get to the top the final whistle usually goes. It is a pain to get out and I fear that if there was ever a time when we had to evacuate the ground there would be massive problems! IMO

Sorry, I don't buy any of that.

Firstly, all the H&S surveys re evacuations etc will have been carried out by the club. If the means of escape in an emergency weren't adequate then the stadium would not have been licensed. If you are genuinely concerned about safety then it is down to you to contact the club and you should seriously consider this.

Secondly, I always stay until the end of the match and leave from the KOP walking down to my car in Floodgate St. I have never felt held up, other than the extra minute or so it takes to leave the ground in the queue. For God's sake, what's 2 minutes in a lifetime?

Finally, the only way to give 100% support is to stay in your seat until the end of the match. Therfore, all those who leave early are not giving 100% support to their club.

If people pay for their ticket then they deserve to leave whenever they please...

I always stay until the end of a match, no matter how held up I may be afterwards.. as I don't like to miss anything!. But I have no problem with other people leaving early if thats what they want to do.

Do you understand the concept of support? I don't think you do. Money has nothing to do with it. Can you explain why leaving early is a growing epedemic amongst Blues supporters?

Sorry. I can't stand it when fans leave early, it sends a bad signal out to the board and players. I always stay till the end and clap the players off even if we lose so shame on the early birds.

And I have to catch the bus from the city centre to Northfield so if I can do it so can the rest, no argument is there?

Bloody right, and some of us get up at 3am for work, so I always leave early at night games, sitting in a traffic jam in Small Heath........you must be joking :(

If you thought we were bad should have seen the united fans today. Think they all had to catch their ferry!

Ok. So it's not just our lot.

But the last few minutes of a game can change everything and that is when the team often need our support ... so why is it happening?

Have to admit I was up those stairs sharpish Wednesday, but this was not a reflection on the team or me wanting to get home early!!

It was bloody freezing and I had a full bladder, I sit in block 12 so it takes about 10 mins to get out the ground when I usually wait for the final whistle!! However I doubt I could have waited that long on this occasion??

Sorry sir it won’t happen again ;)

I'm so very dissapointeed in you Jassy!

>;o)

I always wait to the end because I'm a big tad wad and want evey pennysworth out of my ST.

Oh, and I reckon if I leave I'll miss the goal of the season from one of our Blue Boys. (As an aside, did anyone else think Henri Cameras goal was the best they've seen at St Andy's this season. It was a corker. The Git).

But, I would never try and police the way other people spend their money and time. I would not try and impose my idea of support on to them.

But . . .

If only they wouldn't get up to go and leave and then stand in isles blocking my view! If you're gonna go, then go. If you're gonna stay, then stay in your seat!

this leaving early argument is as boring as it was 2 weeks ago, 2 months ago and 2 years ago!!!

it happens and you cannot make people stay until the end if they dont want to. it is their money and it is their choice. personally i would never leave early but have no problem with others wanting to leave early.

reference your H&S leaving the ground. if you had not noticed there is a big expanse of grass at the bottom of the stand and if an evacuation was required i am fairly confident they would send one or two fans this way where appropiate.

like fans booing it happens everywhere and you, me, bruce, karen, or any other person in football or in any walk of life can change this fact.

it is as much a part of football today as diving, fighting on the pitch and havinga beer before the game. you cannot stop it happeneing so lets just forget about this issue and if you stay to the end enjoy it and talk about the football and not how those around you choose to spend their money and express themselves

Now I know why it's all dying at Blues.

With supporters like this what hope have we got. I think they've been planted by the Vile. How long ago was it we were all taking the p155 about how quiet and 5h1te it was at vile park with silent supporters and stands emptying long before the final whistle. Now we've got so called supporters like this person making 1001 excuses for leaving early and not giving 100% support.

Cut the crap!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been polite so far, but my worst fears are being confirmed.

FORGET THE EXCUSES, GET BEHIND THE LADS AND SB .... THEY/WE NEED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
