Birmingham midfielder Darren Carter is set to snub Sunderland and leave St Andrews for Midlands rivals West Brom. Carter, who spent a spell on loan at Sunderland and was wanted by Mick McCarthy for the Black Cats' Premiership campaign, has found himself out of favour at Birmingham. Blues boss Steve Bruce wants to keep him but the lure of more regular first-team football at The Hawthorns is likely to tempt the 21-year-old to leave his home-town club. West Brom manager Bryan Robson is looking to improve his squad as he looks to establish the Baggies in the top flight. And after having a £4.5m offer turned down by Spurs for Fredi Kanoute, he will step up his efforts to complete Carter's switch for a fee believed to be around £1.8m. http://www.teamtalk.com/teamtalk/News/Stor..._515005,00.html To be honest i dont like the idea of him leaving on a permenant deal. I would much rather him go on loan for the season to them and see what the situation is at the end of the season. £1.8mil is not bad but he is one of the few central midfielders that we have who will go forward to support the midfield. |

yeah very true, but what if todays signing is a midfielder? he may think that he wont figure in SB plans if he's a big signing. these things seem to be making me think that it is not who we exspect. ;) |

i agree, i am not caters biggest fan i think most blues fans have a sentimental thing with him and that is why they rate him, but i would like to see him go on loan see what he can do in the top flight and then if he does good have him back next season! |

IMO I think 1.8 Million for Carter is good business, could be one of those that come back to bite you in the ass but I'm not confident Carter is ever going to truly be a Prem quality midfielder. Bearing in mind as well we have quite a few midfielders at the club with Asa and Kilkenny, motteram etc coming through, attacking midfielders and all being praised and watched by numerous other Prem teams, I think Blues have better options. |

It would not be bad business but i would like to see us hold onto him, let him out on loan and if he proves himself, then the value will be higher at the end of the season. As for other attacking midfielders, i totally agree with Hall and Kilkenny but they have yet to break into the team and prove themselves at Prem level. I do think that this season they will, especially Hall. We have a great talent in him and i wouldnt like to see that go to waste. |

I think I must rate Carter higher than most on here. He's a good box to box player and offers us a goal threat that Clemence, Nafti, DJ etc cannot. I'd rather see him stay, I have no doubt he's Premiership quality. Just because he's not Frank Lampard doesn't mean we should get rid of him. |

er blooboy me old mate, he scord 8 goals in the prem from open play, the rest were pens you cant count penalties. now if scord all his goals from open play then i'd agree. and as for his england caps do you realy think he will be in the squad for germany? i know i dont. :P |

i don't care how many were pens,... would you agree then if he scores 25 this season in the Championship, that it's a mistake to sell someone that loved the Blues? |

mozza did the same in the championship. you can only count goals from open play. i can score a penalty and i'm nowhere neer a proffesional footballer. just because he loves the blues does'nt meen we should keep him. on that resoning we should never have got rid of hoppy. ;) |

I cannot believe anyone would say selling AJ wasn't a mistake. I'm sure Brucie would be the first to admit that it was his biggest. £4 Million plus AJ for Clinton Morrison ? Not a mistake ? You're having a giraffe !! |

why was it a mistake? i agree part ex for mozza was a mistake, but i was'nt opposed to aj going. as far as i can see all he did last season was score a lot of pens, would he even have been the penalty taker here? so what you are saying is that it was a mistake to sell a player that can score 6-8 goals in the prem. sorry but we already have those. |

A relative of Darrens has posted on another forum that this story is rubbish. There are clubs interested in him, including WBA, but thats as far as it goes. He hasn't been sold or loaned or anything yet. |

got to agree with you there when aj was here he was crap couldnt hit a barn door with a banjo and still he struggles to score from open play now, all he is good at is taking a dive and he did that agaist he "beloved blues" too, so for me he is scum, i would never dive agaist the blues and i would never play agaist the blues i would fake and injury! :P |
