If anyone can get the best out of Bowyer, Steve Bruce can. Look at Pennant. At the end of the day Bowyers a proven England International and we can get him for next to nothing! |

the word is that souness wants to keep bowyer but shepherd wont have him bowyer was crap last year, i thought what a waste of space but it was because bobby was playing him on the right. he played him centre the last 3 games of the season and he scored in 2 and set up in the other this year hes been fantastic in the centre - hes our top scoring midfielder yes he misses a lot of chances but he gets into a lot - if he plays against us next season ill cheer him LEE BOWYER, LEE BOWYER! do yous not fancy butt instead? :/ |

Souness signed Parker, when he's got Bowyer, Butt, Jenas, Dyer. He's sold his only winger. Newcastle need wingers, Souness doesn't buy them. They need a target man and goal scorer, a CB, a left back. Souness can't manage, he put Blackburn where Newcastle finished last season. They used to be a big team too. He sold Bellamy, like he did Dunn, didn't replace him, then the club missed him. Shola Ameobi reminds me of Adebola. |

John Terry, Craig Bellamy, Paul Gasgoigne, Kieron Dyer, Eric Cantona, Johnathan Woodgate, Paul Merson. Tony Adams, Faustino Asprilla, Wayne Rooney, Jermaine Pennant, Lee Bowyer................ I could go on, just a few players who have had a "brush with the law" so to speak. If you're looking for role models then don't follow football, it's not the right place. Role models were those footballers who played for the love of the game, the love of the club, the love of the fans etc. They ENJOYED playing football, unfortunately, those days are long gone, in fact they'll probably never return. The truth is, we (the football fans) would give our right arm to play for our respective teams, we wouldn't ask for 5 figure sums, we'd just be happy to pull on the shirt each week and give it our all. The point I am trying to make here is that there are'nt many football managers who would refuse to sign someone because of their "off field" antics. They would all like to have us think that "all they need is a helping hand", "he's misunderstood" and so on and so forth. If it were almost any other profession it simply would'nt be entertained, can you imagine the scenario : "This is Lee Bowyer, he'd like to start work with us, he has whacked his colleague (in front of everyone), he's a racist (allegedly), he had "time off" for stepping on someone's head but he's good at his job" Just would'nt work would it ? No, the truth of the whole matter is that football is all about money, forget loyalty, respect, manners and anything else that we hear from players. The question from a football manager (and some fans) will always come down to "Do we think this player will improve our team ?", if the answer is "yes" then thats it, done and dusted. Don't expect too much from modern day football, you'll be disappointed. And for what it's worth, I was a Newcastle United season ticket holder last season, I have'nt renewed my ticket, I'll pick and choose my games like most of the team seemed to do last season. As for Bowyer......I'll pay ten quid towards his train fare to Birmingham New Street. |
