Just to keep you up to date...

Crisis meeting for ladies club on friday 1600

if no money in place by then they will tell squad on Sunday that they cannot guarantee the season contracts.

we currently have plenty of ideas to raise the £75-£80k for the next 12 mths but need a "bridge" loan of £15-£20k for the next 3 mths whilst these ideas are made real. I am sure that we can raise the money over the season, but we only have now 2 days to ensure that smaller amount is available.

I have asked BCFC to help, they have offered all the support with regards to allowing us to collect money, and web site links etc, but they cannot do the loan before mid week next week, as board cannot be consulted as a whole til then.....

it is like the shambles of the rover deal, i am frustrated by it, and no doubt someone will be a vulture and pick up the pieces in a few mths time... and the best players will be gone.

There will be media requests for urgent help on radio tonight, will check which station etc, so a mircle could still happen....

if any one knows anyone who can arrange a 15-20k LOAN please advise... asap, pm me with details and i will call, do whatever is needed...

lets not let this happen, and lets show that BCFC is the supporters team

the players will be asked, in private over next few mths, but it is the timing that is killing this, we have 24 hrs...

so lets not knock the players, as they are unaware of the issue at moment.

Ian Coley has contacted the club and put forward a very strong case for the Ladies team. I have assured him that the Club will do all it can in support of his campaign. However as with all sports clubs/teams they must be able to survive independently - this is a basic business principle that applies to Sunday pub football teams upwards. Having met with Directors of the Ladies team almost two years ago, I was informed that their overwhelming desire was to remain completely independent of the professional club. We were therefore somewhat surprised to be approached with a view to taking full control. We agreed to look at the situation and committed our support providing we felt that the financial model was workable. Having examined the situation and current set up in detail, we came to the conclusion that the project was not viable for us at this time.
BCFC do remain committed to help in any way it can and would encourage any potential sponsors to come forward.

Hello Perry , what reason did they give for wanting to stay independent?. I would have thought they would have agreed straight away!!

No reason was given. They were simply very vocal in their desire to remain independent of the professional club at that time.

I remember watching the women's England footie team on BBC2 a few weeks ago and feeling really proud of Blues for supporting women's football to the extent that we had more players in the England team than any other club. What a fabulous free advert for the club these women were. Didn't realise that Blues had bugger all to do with them and are quite content to disassociate themselves completely :o

The Blues are a succesful club on the financial side of things. How on earth can they not stump up the money to keep the ladies team going.Charton and Arsenal support there respective teams why can't we.Hekey,Izzet on approx 30k per week and we can't support the ladies team.Complete disgrace.Get your priorities right Blues it's not all about financial viable bullsh&t solutions. It's about good PR especially as far as the better sex goes.Pull your finger out.

I don't believe for one minute that the ladies turned down an offer from help from Blues. Why would they. Theres no reason too. Remember the men said they would help with the £70,000 last month, and now they have changed their minds to say they won't help.

I'd like to hear from the ladies if this is true or not, that they turned down their help.

it is a catch 22 at moment, the ladies set up saying one thing, and blues stating another...

and the clock ticks, there is no money in this, not for me, not the ladies set up, i see this as club issue, however it has happened we now have a strong team, in chance of top 4 in premeirship and having 10 england players, the PR is excellent, I know that sponsor will come in, but they need the bridge finance the buy the time...

I will be speaking to Perry and Steve and Stuart for BCFC ladies today to get up dates...

did anyone win the lottery last night?

they did not turn down support, they were advised that BCFC "would do all they could to find a sponsor" etc, and given an "indication" that blues would help.

Bcfc ladies have NOT refused or turned down ANY financial help... (as far as I know)

ok, the sell,

lets cut to the chase,

BCFC is a premiership mens club, which aspirations for european football et cetera. It Wants to bring the community together to support the club, it is always stating that it is "part" of the community. et cetera,

I am part of the community, we all are,- but not eveything I do is financial gain to me... heaven forbid if it was.

I believe that business, at whatever level, has a role to play in the local community, for the sake of its employees, Bournville was an extreme, but it worked, and I believe that Blues is more than "just" a business, it is a club that yes, needs to stand alon financially, but is there as part of the community, it makes money from 30,000 odd fans who pay to "support" a local community team, as I would "pay" towards my sons team... our season tickets are effectively a donation to support the club, yes today it has gone further, big money etc...

but out of that money we expect certain things, obviously a strong 1st team, but also some community output, players going to hospitals, community days for school kids etc, some children connections, and I expect the club to support all areas of local football, beit under 8's or women football....

it is a holistic entity, and if they are seen just to "take" it will have an impact, maybe not if just the ladies team, but it does not help them.

We have "helped" the club, I pay my money, season tickets, mascot packages, gold suite stuff, mercandise, and i have got various companies I have an involvement in to do loads of corporate stuff,

I enjoy it, but i would like to see something back, as well as the 1st team, they did a good job when rover crisis came around, GOOD PR

now this is another chance, they can get ALL the xudos they want from stating they have helped,

so "selling" it to a fellow supporter i would say that how often do we get something right, and really look like the best?

the ladies team are at the TOP, top coach, top players, this season they could really shine, and it is BIRMINGHAM CITY! how often have we been the laughing stock? 40 yrs i have followed them , only last 5-6 yrs have we been proud, and still nearly there, if we lost the ladies team.. because of a small amount, we could look silly,

so whoever it is, the club or supporters, we need a strong ladies team, IT WILL BE FUN! we can be proud,, SKY are starting to show it more, and we have Yanky, who has a great high profile, by monday she could be at arsenal!

This is all sentiment though mate, what are the advantages of having a ladies club? How can they pay there way because i dont think its fair that the club subsidise something that in all fairness is a PR gimmick.
How does the team pay there way?
what are there sources of income?

Responding to Perry's comments re. being "very vocal about wanting to remain totally independent of the men's club." I feel the "Ladies" club should clarify the situation.

I was at this meeting, in 2003, and what we actually said was " we do not want to be financially dependent upon Blues" and Blues could help us to achieve this by reducing our costs, for example, providing team kits, balls, water bottles, team coach for away games and helping us to find a sponsor. At this meeting I also asked Perry for £10,000 to help us with our operating costs. The response was that financial help was not possible.

We continue to play under the name "Birmingham City ladies FC", we wear "Blues" shirts, have invited the commercial department to home games and have regularly sought meetings with the club to request assistance. I do not believe this evidences any desire to "remain independent" and refute this claim.

We are at a crisis point in our existence and urgently need support from both the supporters and the club, so my plea to the supporters is "please come forward and back us, NOW not tomorrow", and to the "Blues" board "underwrite our operating costs for the forthcoming season TODAY so we can retain our International players."
