Dire! anyone says 7 or 8th this season is having a laugh.... Nafti is rubbish!! sorry but he ain't premiership. you can't play to out and out wingers when you have a dire midfield like we have.

Again i feel this is a case of Nafti being used unwisely.

I know this evenings game was only about gaining fitness so it dosent matter but when the prem starts Nafti is a player that should be used against teams that are superior to us.

Nafti is good at his job, which is stopping other teams from playing and protecting the defence. When we want to defend and protect Nafti is a great player, when we want to dominate and attack Nafti is not.

When we play the top teams Nafti is an asset, when we play the poorer teams Nafti is not needed.

He is a great asset but only if used properly.

it mad no difference to them at all manure still went on to win the prem.

i say fare play to northampton.

we will see what happens when the season starts.

just got back frm game and yep we were quite shocking, morrison = very very poor. Only players really putting the effort in seemed to be Hesky and Pennant.

Yes yes it was only a friendly but things have to liven up and boy will we be struggeling if super mario gets injured next season because you could see the differance without him tonight...

Nafti was terrible, and I mean terrible, he could not pass or even tackle just terrible.
He looked this eveing like a div 3 player at least,
Premiership is well out of his depth, and if he is played in most games this season it will show, yes he had a couple of decent games towards the end of last season but I for one never thought this bloke was the answer for our midfield

remember guys.........IT WAS ONE MATCH

you cant judge all of naftis performances in the premiership in one match. So what he had a bad game" OMG DUDE HE IZ CRAP NO PREM QUALTEE" ffs one match give the lad a chance.

pre season guys..chill out...most teams at this stage do traning all day and then play a game..so its a stamina thing.

Northampton will also be a week further down the line as they kick off sooner.

Seriously its nothing to worry about..anyone who has done a pre season will know what im talking about

Good call dr.
We get too rapped up in friendlies because we've been without meaningful competitive games for a few weeks.
Think about it, when the season starts when are friendlieas ever referred to?

My comments on Nafti are not from just this game, but from his games on loan and before as I had seen hebefore he came here........still feel he is well out of his depth, he was well out of it in Spain as well

Talk about an over reaction!!!

It was a friendly pre-season game........enough said about the result.

Can I remind all the people with short memories that Nafti is not a 'dire' player at all, very much the opposite and once the prem season kicks off he'll be putting in the performances like the ones he put in away at Chelsea and home to Arsenal (did the Nafti moaners forget these??)

Nafti is a quality player with a lot to offer the Blues over the coming season, but I do tend to agree that against the 'lesser' teams where more attacking football should be played, Izzet (who can defend and attack equally well) should be used alongside a single minded attacking midfielder.

Just my 2p worth....

Matty.

I reckon if Nafti played well or scored it'd be more like "yeah dont worry bout the midfield brucie, nafti's world class.....blah, blah, blah"
Im afraid some people understand footy and others sadly dont......(but think they do)

Lets just all calm donw a little. It was a pre season friendly and the result didnt really matter. This is the first game Nafti has played since he came back from his summer break (less than a fornight i believe) and he would have been lacking macth fitness.

He put in some great performances towards the end of the season and he will do so again this time around. He was one of the few midfielders last season who seemed comfortable passing and receieving he ball. His ability to break up the opposition play and distribute the ball onto an attacking player is very good.

Lets just let him have a few games under his belt before we start the character assasinations.

The season hasnt started yet and already we are talking about struggling FFS

Talk about over-reacting. Nafti hasn't played in a month, and suddenly he's expected to be up to speed?

I remember Blues beating Man Utd 4-3 in pre-season. We beat Celtic 1-0 too. I don't recall us going on to win division one at a canter; in fact, I don't recall either of our opponents self-destructing as a result of losing to us either.

Right let me expalain.
I worked in Spain in the area of Cantabria, this was for 8 months durning the 2003/04 season, now to get my fix of football I and a few of my fellow brits would go to Santader football club, where a certian Mr Mehdi Nafti played, so I would say I could have my opinion of thios player and place it on here.

i drove 3 hrs to get there from burton, over 3 hrs back (heavy rain!!! ) to watch that performance which, in fairness, left a little to be desired. but when i think back to some of the footy we played at derby saturday (yes, i was there too) i will take a balanced view of things. nafti is being unfairly singled out and i hope we dont start treating him like gronks because he needs some matches to get somewhere near match fit - same for clem etc etc who have had interrupted training. for anyone who's played footy at even a reasonable standard you will know how hard and difficult pre-season is, so for prem players it must be nightmare-ish.
just get off their backs, nothing has been won or lost;lets judge them (if you must) when the season is here and there are things to play for...get real, or get lost!!!
