ALAN CURBISHLEY has laughed off Birmingham’s bid to land Jason Euell on the cheap.

The Charlton manager immediately rejected a £1million offer for the midfielder, 28, who struggled to make an impact at The Valley last season.

Blues’ offer was less than half bid by Championship side Crystal Palace and Curbishley is hoping to get at least £3m.

The offer was a bit laughable. Shows how serious we are to get him if we are outbid by Crystal Palace and only apparently offering a third of what Charlton want. A diversion tactic, I think to keep the media occupied while we do some proper business :ph43r:

Again a sign that the board are trying to get someone on the cheap, this type of reaction not only wastes time but also risks our chances of getting the so called world class players the board have said they want..if its true that is. I supppose the board should get players at a bagin price if they can but most quality players have a price and they wont at the end of the day go for peanuts. You pay your money and get your player, you get what you pay for and its not very often you pick great players up for a bargin. Good buisness if you do.

I sometimes wonder if we don't feed the media stories like this so they publish them to keep them away from other deals we maybe doing.

I'd like to think that anyway!!

Didn't Bruce mention in the Evening Mail only the other day that Euell was a "player we had looked at" but certainly not top of his wish list.
All managers look at a load of players throughout a season to see who they might want to have a sniff round during the summer.

Can't see this as being true.

Just wish we knew if we were going in for anyone of top quality.

They have took us from the duldromes of near bankruptcy to the giddy heights we are today i think they know a smidgen about business, trust them if we are bidding there is a reason behind it.

1m sounds about right to me for a poor 28 year old player.

Thank god it was turned down though, the last player we need is Eull.

Imo we have no use for Euell, and my hope is this laughable bid was only made as a mere diversion as we are off finalizing a deal for a class midfielder on the hush. KRO

Either:

(i) It's diversion tactics to distract the media from our true multi-million pound quality target

or

(ii) We are trying to get a player on the cheap.

Make your own minds up.
