The transfer window has extended the buying decisions into the start of the season. If the window closed in the middle of July it would be mean everyone could be in place for most of pre-season so the clubs would benefit and the players would not be sitting on tentative offers waiting for a phone call

I like the idea of having the full squad together to gel as a team.

But it wouldn't give much time to negotiate deals. Look at the Pandiani deal, although unique, it drags on. Could cause some teams into panic buying.

personally I don't like the transfer window and think it should be scrapped. Would make the forum's less interesting though

Get rid of the transfer window completely. It creates pressure on clubs to get players in by the deadline or face playing half a season with an existing squad that may not be strong enough.Selling clubs, players and agents know this and it is leading to trickle down inflation throughout the game.We were badly effected last season with the lost of key players to injury and could do nothing about it until January. The window in January is becoming harder and harder to conclude deals in because buying clubs are uaually desparate and selling clubs can charge over the odds.Players and agents can hold out for silly money and the choices for struggling clubs in the Premiership particularly are to risk not bringing players in and facing relegation or gambling with the club's finanical security and paying high transfer fees and wages in order to survive.

The transfer window only suits the bigger, more established clubs who already have strong squads in place and make it even harder,as if it wasn't already hard enough, for promoted teams to get a foot hold in the Premeirship.OK so we can now start to count ourselves amoung that group of more established teams but the situation is not good for the game. The prospect of the Premiership rotting from the bottom up is a real danger IMO. In fact it as already stated. It can only be a matter of time before the top four or five jump ship individually or collectively to form a European super league or something like it, taking most of the TV money with them. For how mugh longer can there be any real motivation for Chelsea for example, with all the money they have spent to be playing Wigan,Norwich or the like when they could be playing the top sides in Europe in both league and cup football?I think it is just a matter of time I am afraid.

For the remaining clubs in the Premiership with players on contracts calculated on future TV money the impact of this could see many facing going out of business.Don't be too sure that would not include us.We are a very well run club with very able people in charge but we are dependant on Sky TV money to pay the contracts we have with players. We have reportedly just signed a new five year contract with Emile Heskey worth £1.5m a year and he is just one player..If the Sky money dissappears in two years time where is the money to honour that contract going to come from? Our owners are very wealthy but now would we cope with a massive lost of income with little prospect of regenerating it?

Not quite stayed on the subject have I! I just can't stand this transfer window and see it as an another nail in football's finanical coffin.Of course it would be great to have the squad in place for a full pre season.I would just see the transfer process stating earlier with the risk that players might become unsettled / distracted as their futures are decided whilst the end of the season is still in progress. The less time to do a deal the more it reduces choice, with less choice the more it favours the seller, the more it favours the seller the higher the price and the higher the price the greater the inflation and loss of finanical control.

Rant over (for now!)

The world will hear from me again!

Let your heart beat strong and all that.

Imagine the spending spree Chelski would go for every inform player! They do well as it is. I think the transfer window has given many teams a chance at competing with the top 3 look at Everton. The spending power that once was has now been taken away from the best teams to leave them with what they have

Jesus, you don't want the board or manager to have *any* time off, do you?!

Is Anton Ferdinand any good? Or is he mainly championship quality? How about Cambell ;) i mean he could go to Newcastle what the worst if we put in a bid for him?

Midfield we need to stop looking for defensive now we have Nafti,Dj,clemence, anderton if we really need to. We cant rely on Izzet's knee we need another 1. I always say we should have 1 attackive and 1 defensive in centre midfield to balance it. As long as we keep these players are defensive midfield is ok.

Striker even if we get Pandiani i would still want another striker to be honest unless we keep morrison. Forssell we cant guarentee will last all season as will Heskey but if we have pandiani and someone like baros for back up people wont worry so much. How about a bid for Owen? I mean its better to have a headache over what striker we should play than what reserve to pick out.

It does mean we get the opportunity to sign 1/2 decent players from Chelsea though!!!
