Mate I have in Spain has just phoned to say the TV there are reporting that Pandiani is now ready to sign for Real Zaragoza after Deportivo agreed a fee with them and the player seems to have agreed personal details, and this could happen later today, as it now seems Birmingham have totally pulled out of the deal after the 2 clubs could not agree on the money owed to the player.

Well an other one we've missed out on then...................................................next!

A newspaper in Spain called the "Ideal Gallego" says if the transfer isn't done this weekend it won't be done at all. There is agreement between the clubs, and between us and Walter, but both Depor and Walter have dug their heels in over the monies he claims they owe him and neither wants to give in.

So we have agreed a fee but the money Pandiani claims Depor owe him is the stumbling block.

Maybe Zaragoza have offered to pay Pandiani the money owed to him by Deportivo while we won't.

Be a gutter if we don't sign him.

Another season of Morrison coming on from the bench to miss an easy chance at the death, excellent. <_<

So we've done all we can. If it doesn't happen, we'll move onto Brucey's next target. I have every confidence in the man and in the board. I wanted El Rifle here but if it isn't to happen, it isn't to happen.

totally agree mate

i think now, we best bid for a v good striker (baros) a centre midfielder and a left back because nothing has been sorted with bernard yet or has it

i gotta say, 2 weeks till start of season, this is either gonna be the busyest 2 weeks ever or our season will be crap

IF this is true it will show again our true lack of drive. A top European striker and we are apparently haggling over peanuts. Fine. But not if it means losing out on the signing.

Birmingham want to challenge for Europe. Other clubs, like Spurs, like Newcastle, like Boro, are determined to challenge for Europe. Spot the difference?

Brucey's other target being Jason Euell.

Here's to a relegation 6-pointer with Sunderland. :(

Here is the web link for the article in "El Ideal Gallego"

http://www.elidealgallego.com/servlet/Cont...&arglink=nolink

Here is the article "losely" translated

"In most last night they continued the contacts so that Pandiani went al Birmingham City in a final way.

The two parts were marked a time limit for such question, and this is not another that this weekend because if does not arrive at an agreement the player will begin to work Monday in the fields of Abegondo with the blue and white team, all it in spite of have not puts on file to play the Intertoto.

In these negotiations they have run into two very strong positions and none yields in its pretensions. All is fixed between the club coruńés and the English and also there is agreement of the forward one with the Birmingham, but the Sports one wants that Pandiani to stop charging a series of quantities that are owed him and the player is not willing to forgive neither a euro.

The positions continue being very nearby and al close of this edition almost final steps were given to close the transfer, nevertheless still one must arrive to a final agreement and to sign on the role the exit of the blue and white player, something that already too much he has been extended, what does not benefit none of the two parts implied. "

I would imagine that the Spanish media is just as prone to gossip regarding football as the English media is. So lets just all calm down, stop having a go at the board, predicting relegation battles and see what happens between now and next weekend when we play them.

As I said to mate, could this just be another ploy by Deportivo, as to get us to get the deal done?

Otherwise have we decided to end this saga and say we'll look elsewhere now, as on some other forum I read we are now looking at a well known German striker, will see if I can find the forum and place a link

god sake, if we dont start signing good players now, we are gonna have a relegation fight on our hands

what are u on?

we have forrsell/heskey/Kuqi/Morrison up front

in middle we have Dunn / Izzet / Clemence / Johnson / Nafti / Anderton

Right side Pennant

left side Gray / Stan

Defence Melchiot/Cunningham /upson/ Clapham/Tebiely/Taylor/ (bernard?)

thats without the younsters that at least one will come thru.

and without maybe 1 or 2 new signings that will happen

top 10 should be easily attainable with right motivation from Bruce

do u forget what the team was when we came up?

and we survived

ONLY two left from those days

Johnson and Stan, if memory is working in three seasons the team has been totally refurbished..

It's garbage. There's no quotes or anything in there to suggest that's what's going to happen.

this is the biggest Pi55er of the summer. what a joke this transfer has been for both panda - blues and depor. I can't believ that we will lose him at the last moment, if we do, and i only hope it's part of some bigger plan to bring in somebody as good if not better i.e. not euell!

If Sullivan thinks that any of our squad is world class then he knows nothing about football. I hate the way that term is banded around left and right by people in football. Truth is, there's only a handful of world class players on the planet.

No one is saying top six... (except the deluded or extremely optimistic).

Why you then start talking about relegation is beyond me.

Have faith, stop whinging, get a spine and start supporting your team!

You are the sort of guy that stops supporting the team if we go a goal behind and starts moaning. If the players took your defeatist attitude... then we really would be in the SH1T!

This board gets more miserable by the day.

Keep right on... etc etc

<_<

So ... We're choosing to ignore Vaesen, Kenny, Tebs, O'Morrison, (Came later) Upson, Clem, Clapham, etc ... then?

we should either complete by monday or cancel the whole deal

whats the point of dragging out a deal which we stand a risk of not completing and missing out on other targets

do hope we sign him
why we dont just stump up that little extra of whatever is needed from the sale of arter ill never know, he's definitly worth the cash

I must be deluded because I see a top 6 finish.

What was lacking from our team last year?
GOALS!
What have we done about it?
Force and Heskey and possibly Pandani.
Who is supplying the amo.
Pennant, Muzzy and Dunn
Is the defence weaker?
No
The only doubt I have is the Savage role.

Muzzy Izzet just suffered a knee injury which took a long time to heal. I doubt very much he will break down again.

The only two risks are forssell and dunn. Dunn has been told his operation has been 100% successful, which means he should not suffer the same injury again (that doesn't mean he won't pick up knocks all the way).

I think our main concern within the team is Lazaridis, I can't seem him playing much for us again.
