Been out of the loop for a while, but what's the latest on these 2?
Does anyone know or has it all died down?

KRO - 13 days to go!

Thats what annoys me we had a chance to add 2 more players to our squad that want to come to us but we cant offer them (In Basinas' Case) enough money.

Surely whatever we were to offer Bassinas would be more than what he's on at Panathinaikos or wherever he plays. Greek football is not rolling in dosh as far as I know!

We agreed terms with Basinas no problems i seem to remember however the last i heard we would only pay 600k when panathinikos wanted 700k.

I dont think we really want him that much from the looks of things or we'd have sown this deal up a while ago.

i seem to recall we offered 600k as dany says, but they upped the figure they wanted to £1m as he was a euro champs winner...terms were agreed with the player but i think he's 29/30 or something and its a lot of money for a virtual pensioner for midfield, imo...... ;)

What i could never understand about the proposed basinas deal was that Sullivan had said 2 weeks previous to us bidding for him that we watched him and he wasnt good enough???

Id be surprised though if we sign Basinas now and i dont think he is the player we are looking for anyway, we have enough defensive holding type midfielders.

i tend to agree dany, although he's quite skilful it'd take him 6 months to get used to the prem, and whats the point in that?

Maybe we will get him on a loan deal at the last minute.

I think you are right, they were looking at Karagounis as a potential attacking midfield signing but were not that impressed.

As for Basinas, another defensive midfielder is definitely not a priority.

I heard the bernard deal was stalling because blues were refusing to be held to ransom. My dad told me he saw that in the evening mail. He must be asking for too much in wages, i expect he would have been used to a fair old wack at Newcastle

Seeing as teams arnt exactly beating his door down to sign him you'd think he'd just be grateful for a contract with us. im sure were offering him decent money.

I think they are being held in reserve. I think we are waiting for another club or two to complete their dealings, so we can have one of their players at the last minute? ..if not we will take what we can get

I still believe we are in talks with Chelsea for the loaning of Bridge, from what i have heard from a friend, Chelsea are stalling because Blues want to have the option of buying him for an agreed fee at the end of the season.. this is the reason why we are stalling on Bernard

That seems a very possible and logical reason. Chelsea may not be willing to let Bridge go either as they want 2 players for each position and Gallas said that he refuses to play at LB anymore.

Lets just hope that Bernard is still available if the loan deal or Bridge falls through.

Have no fear, I'm sure he will be.

Other clubs are hardly beating down the path to his door !!! Maybe they saw him play for Saints last season ! ;)
