From BBC Sport website: Charlton boss Alan Curbishley claims Birmingham are interested in signing attacking midfielder Jason Euell. Curbishley denied the Blues' interest was the reason for Euell's absence from Charlton's friendly at Watford. He told Charlton's website: "Birmingham have enquired but they're nowhere near what we think is the right figure. "It's not why Jason wasn't in the squad, he said if he wasn't going to get a full 90 minutes he would rather play in the reserves at Sutton." Curbishley insisted that in a slow transfer market, he would not part with players for less than what he thought they were worth. The Addicks' boss said: "What's happening in football at the moment is you can sell players if you want to take the money. It might not be the right money, but you can sell them. "But it's very difficult to bring players in, everybody is having a problem, Birmingham included. I think they've only brought two players in." |

That's nothing new is it. Bruce said last week he had made an inquirey about Euell and thats as far as it had gone. I do not believe he is the player we are supposedly chasing my guess would be either Butt or Bowyer. |

http://www.charlton-athletic.co.uk/playerd...eason=2004/2005 As a midfileder he has been a top striker for quite a while. Described as a Midfielder/Forward |

TBH I would not mind Euell in some respects (how many of our midfielders have scored ten in a season?) and he would offer us something different, but he is hardly a 'step-up' is he? As a squad player he would be fine, but we have enough squad players! We need that one vital missing ingredient - a creative centre mid. Euell would address that to some degree but not enough. |

Can't really see the point in going for Euell. We have quite a few decent central midfielders, what we need is really classy player. |

I think the point is with Euell is that at least he is an attacking midfielder, and he has scored around ten goals for three out of four seasons. Still, like I say don't think he is a step-up in quality, but... |

Alan Curbishley has confirmed Blues have bid for Jason Euell, but is not prepared to let him go on the cheap and wants City to double their £2m bid. Daily Mirror, AUG 1 |

£4mil? That has either got to be a joke or just The Mirror making up rubbish - again. Full story http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html |

I thought we were talkintg a current £1m bit to be increased to £2m, if it's any more then it's too much. I've always liked Euell. He is one of those players who has always caused us problems when he played against us either for the Dons or Charlton. I agree he is not the next step up, but as SB says, he is having trouble getting that level of player. We therefore still have a shortfall until Dunn is back and proven, at least a seasons work IMO. |
