I have a very bad memory but beggining of last season 1 of our centre defenders(kenny i think) wasnt playing how did martin taylor do there? Dj is suspended for the first 2 games as well we could have put him there. If we cant get anyone we will have to use Tebily or Taylor.

Comon lets get a defender hope kenny gets better.

Maybe we should use this as an oppurtunity to try out our youngsters such as Oji?

Kenny was banned wasn't he at the beginning of last season and the season before(sent off in the asia cup) wasn't he? or am I getting something mixed up?

Taylor hasn't done badly at CB when he's been called upon, I think he's a threat from a corner as well being so tall

for those of you who didn't travel to derby, tebs was a revelation; winning every tackle, great passing and moving forward with threat and purpose...its about time he was picked in his best position, it could be he's kc's ready made replacement...
;)

Is it just me or does Martin Taylor never look fit? He's always puffing and panting after first 10 mins.

Imo we should now look to bring someone in at centre back. Wes Brown, O'Shea, Dellas, Huth, or Jagielka. KRO

Tebs could step in, didn't do a bad job at Derby.

He didn't play centre half at Derby he was in midfield, play Martin taylor he is a steady player and his distribution is excellent, he has played well for us and never let us down ;)

i agree, and he played well at Northampton... well i thought he did okay. Except apparently he was at fault for the Cobblers goal. :(
i hope he gets his chance anyway.

Bruce has said that even if Kenny has broken a rib he'll be fit for the start of the season.

There's no need to panic, Taylor and Tebily are both certainly good enough to cover at centre half for a short while.

Whenever I've seen Taylor play he's always done well despite being slightly off the pace as he doesn't have enough first team games.

One thing this does highlight is our lack of depth at the position.

Ok, Kenny may make the start of the season, but if he doesn't or if he or Upson pick up an injury during the season, then Taylor will fill in. That'll leave us an injury or suspension away from a crisis.

We have got fillers, ie. Tebz, or young Oji, or even Melchiot moving to middle and a right back coming on, but we need to be aware that Kenny will take longer to recover as what usually happens with older players.

I think the best thing we could do is use up one of our loans for a central defender. It seems like we will be getting the striker and possibly a central midfielder that we wanted on a permenant deal, so that leaves our allowed 2 loans. We may as well make use of them.

If this do happen though, I feel it will be a move which is made close the end of the transfwe window, rather than before the start of the season.
