Two news conferences planned for more or less the same time tomorrow at Blues and Palace. I wonder?
Palace's conference is to clarify the future of AJ.
CM has been not at all at the races in pre-season.
Could it be?

i dont see what the fuss about to be honest. AJ wouldnt do it next season in the prem. It was a one off, just because he got 11 pens or something like that.

The refs will review that this off - season and realise that he goes down too easily. He wont get the same number of pens next season.

AJ is just a good penalty taker, he will not do it in the Prem again.

Why would we buy another striker when weve got no central midfield, AJ is a great player but it would be madness.

I agree, don't write AJ off, but we don't need him.

I don't think that AJ will be joining us but if you think about it then there is a slight possibility that a season long loan move might suit everybody.

AJ plays in the premiership to impress Sven

AJ remains a Palace player which Simon Jordan has always insisted will happen

If Palace get promoted then they get him back or if they remain in Championship then we get first refusal.

Whether we want ir need him I am not sure but it all make sence.

Jordan would not sell him to us imo, the only reason he might have done was if we were to offer £7m+ and we all know that's not going to happen don't we.

From Palace-Mad Site:

Johnson set for transfer U-turn shock

Story by Nik Taylor 1 August 2005

Striker could withdraw transfer request tomorrow

Andrew Johnson will still be a Palace player next season if rumours about the content of tomorrow’s 9am press conference are to be believed.

The early morning announcement will be attended by Johnson, chairman Simon Jordan and Palace boss Iain Dowie.

It is understood AJ will confirm he is signing a 12 month extension to his current contract, thus putting an end to speculation regarding his future.

This sounds like a very plausible rumour to me . . .

With the money Simon Jordan is demanding for AJ i expect Everton or Newcastle to come in and swoop for him on deadline day or something like that which means if the player kicks up a stink then Palace will have to accept less than they want.

He seems to be wanting about 10 million, which will put off Everton, and possibly even Newcastle. Noone has offered anywhere near this amount. See this on Palace Messageboard:

Doubt it. Why would palace hold a press conference with AJ, Jordan and Dowie present to say AJ is leaving? If that was the case surely it would be the new club who would hold one?

Certainly looks like he's staying. My money's on a new contract with more money and a get-out clause if we're not top 2 at Christmas. Apparently AJ also had a chat with Eriksson earlier this week, which may have something to do with his possible change of heart...

He will sign the new contract and if they are not looking like promotion prospects in Jan he will hand in a transfer request and leave.

Yes it seems no swap deal then. Thank goodness for that. Still leaves a pretty sore CM. Wonder what will happen?

He signed a 5 year deal last christmas, why sign another so soon?

Good point but that it what the rumours are - he is signing a new improved deal which will double his wages.

Well Pandiani is enough Striker Wise, we do have A good force now, just like people have said, need the Midfield bolstered.

Just cant see how they reportedly can only have £1m left to spend.

The AJ issue has finally been put to bed!

AJ inks bumper new Eagles deal

So, after all the speculation and hype, the dust finally settles on reality!! Reality that AJ is a good first division (AKA TheChampionship) striker who happened to score a few goals in the Premiership, and win and convert a few panalties. Hardly a flood of offers was there? Hardly a clamber of Premiership clubs breaking down Dowie's door waving their chequebooks!! OK, I think we got the thin end of the wedge with dear old Clint coming as part of the swap deal, but the 'Egg on Face' that was touted by a few fans to be all over Bruce's face has, IMHO, been well and truly scrambled!!!

Aj is a penalty taker and a forward with a bit of pace, with someone like Routledge behind you playing great balls to run on, its kinda easy. Routledge has now gone, and the refs are wiser so he wont do half as good, plus he isnt good enough for England, i dont know what the fuss is about over Aj for England! Id easily rather have Rooney, Owen, Defoe, Smith or Heskey in the squad
