Its not rocket science to realise that if you want to improve on your previous performances then you have to improve the quality of your squad.

Personally I think Brucie and the Board see the return to fitness of Dunn and Izzet as the equivalent of two new signings.

That not withstanding how have they added to the quality of the squad that finished last season?

im a bit p!ssed off how people are taking this seasons signings actually, weve bought 4 v.decent players who are proven at our club and people complain????weve gone far more safely to stop situations like gronkjaer and every1 thinks its no improvement.......rubbish,weve now got 2 strikers who can probably score the best part of 30 goals between them, one of the most promising wingers in england and a decent battling midfielder to add to our depth, but no its not good enough even tho there maybe 1 or 2 more on the way.......too many people talk fart.

We havent signed anyone who didn't play for us at some point last season. Just about every serious premiership club has got 2 strikers who can "probably" score 30 goals and will "maybe" sign 1 or 2 new players.

I respect the board and the manager for the way they have run the club in the past but if we want to make that next step up they need to take some positive action now if they have any serious ambition of finishing in the top 10.

You are right, people do talk fart but I respect your right to do so.

what clubs have these types of strikers apart from top 4 or 5?

in heskey, pandi and forsell we have a 30 to 40 goal set of strikers!

having people on loan is one thing, but signing them full time is another... you have to convince them you are going places, which i believe we are

Forrsell (correct spelling out of respect) is quality without a doubt but there has to be some concern regarding his fitness for a full campaign as with Dunn, Izzet and Lazaridis hence the need for a quality squad.

I think the signings we have made so far have been fantastic, im feeling a whole lot more positive now Pandiani looks to be on board too.

Its true all of our signings have previosly played for us but they were not our players and had we not managed to sign them all permanently i dont see where we could have got better for the same money.

The signings of Forssell, Pennant & Pandiani have taken this club forward and guaranteed a very positive time over the next 3-4 seasons.

All we are now lacking is that top central midfielder to complete the team.

Out of respect, I think that you'll find the correct spelling is actually Forssell.

I tend to agree. I am happy with the signings made. I just think that we are actually two or three players off being a European-chasing side. As we stand I still think the coming season will be similar to last.

While I applaud the signings made I still believe that a central defender and creative midfielder would represent a good investment if we are to significantly progress.

i'm happy with the players we've signed, but would like a midfielder...and i believe this will happen before the season starts

When you look at last season as well our results and performances improved a lot when Pandiani, Pennant & Nafti joined in January. Had those 3 players been with us from the start of the season i think we would have easily made the top 10, very possibly the top 8.

Due to his prison spell Pennant actually only played about 1/4 of the season and Pandiani only 1/3 of the season (13 games, half of them carrying an injury while simaltaneuosly adjusting to the english game)

To simply say 'we had these players last season and only finished 11th' is just not true and a very unfair assesment.

And Forssell only played 4 games so he is virtually a complete new addition to the team which finished 11th.

We will finish top 10 next season i have no doubts about that, but wheather we make europe rests on us signing a top midfielder (not Jason Euell)

Excellent point Dany - the signings we made at Christmas, which we have all but made permanent, represented a major step forward even from the beginning of last season. In a sense last season was similar to the first season, in that the signings we made at Christmas made a major difference.

Any loan deals will probably come towards the middle and end of the month, so we shouldn't panic yet...

We finished 12th last season not 11th, right? I do agree though we should finish in the top 10 this season, but we need to add a top centre midfielder to assure that and also give us an opportunity to get to europe imo. KRO

Nobody is 'complaining' about who we've signed so far.

People are complaining that there's players like Appiah, Parker, Emre, Davids on market, and we haven't signed them.

We're getting pushed back too. Villa have Mellberg, Laursen, McCann, Solano, Barry, Berger, Phillips, Angel. Blackburn have Nelsen, Savage, Pedersen, Bellamy.

Birmingham could be where Spurs are going, but right now we'll be stuck in the mid table area with Villa, Blackburn and Charlton.

What pisses me off is the unbelieveable untapped potential Birmingham have, which is just passing us by.

Youve got to be joking, vile have 2 decent players - Mellburg & Solano, and 1 of them is now nearing the twighlight years of his career. Laursen will be lucky if he plays 10 games a season, barry cant run for love nor money, McCann are you kidding me??

Blues now have a growing number of top class players:

M.Taylor
Upson
Melchiot
Pennant
Dunn
Forssell
Heskey
Pandiani

Everyone of those is european class.

Barry is skillful, can defend and score goals.

Look at Berger's goal at Southampton last season, if he was here everyone would be comparing him to Dugarry, he's got skill.

Phillips is a proven PL scorer, he's scored 1 in 2 ever since he's played here, and that's without the creation of Barry or Solano.

Angel still has a lot of skill, even though he flopped last season. Watch how his game improves with Phillips, like Heskey will with Forssell. And they'll probably sign Baros too.

You'd take our players over what Villa, have I'm just saying we're still not out of their category yet.

I dont imagine too many people are complaining about the players we have brought in, after every signing thus far this board has been loaded with posters showing their excitment. But those signings are old news and its time to look forward to the next signings, the "1 or 2 more on the way" as you say. We still need a top class midfielder to take us to the next level and no matter how much you revel in the signings of Pennant, Forssell, Nafti, and the impending deal for Pandiani, the fact still remains we are lacking those one or two players that could have us in Europe next year. Imo of course. KRO

phillips scored about 6 goals didn't he, playing alongside the beanpole we know as crouch...he had 2 good seasons with sunderland and, imo, he's not even as good as aj...
solano wont play every game
barry is crap and always slow and unfit...berger is their dugarry!!! thats madhouse talk, yes he scored 1 great goal..a closer comparison would be anderton, but that would be injury hours spent...
angel has had 1 good season, scored about 6 last year didn't he...
why are we talking about them anyway, we're doing ok after 3 seasons (they've had much longer) and we're definitely going in the right direction imo, so stop the mindless whinging - we've signed who we've signed, end of......

I would hate to see them go down, as the guranteed points we take from them each match would be missed. KRO
