Birmingham have got the signature of Stilian Petrov from Celtic. Tarianos Dellas and Olivier Dacourt are both on their way to Birmingham City on free transfers from Roma. Others who will follow these two stars to St Andrews are Wayne Bridge on a 6 month loan from Chelsea with a view to a permanent 4 million transfer in January, Phil Jagielka from Sheffield United for a fee in the region of 2-2.5 million and Sean Davies from Tottenham Hotspur for 3 million. Nicky Butt is also still an option for Steve Bruce as he attempts to strengthen his midfield, Bruce is apparently ready to offer 2.5 million for his former team mate. Bruce has also made and audacious bid for Barcelona’s 23 year old striker Javier Saviola, the striker would command a nominal fee due to his current contractual situation and Birmingham are willing to give the unpredictable youngster in the premiership. The final piece of the Birmingham jigsaw for the forthcoming season is reportedly Stuart Elliot, a left winger come striker from new league one outfit Hull City, who is believed to be available for 3 million but Birmingham are only willing to offer 2 million up front with add ons for goals and appearances. Petrov is an ok player but untried in the premier league. Would like to get Dallas on a free. Bridge - yes please. Jagielka - yes but we wont get him for £2.25mil. Davis - yes please. Butt - not if we get Davis. Saviola - good potential ,would spell the end of Morrison. Elliot - top scorere with 23 goals last season from the left wing. Great cover for Dunn, much better than Gray. One player with a big big future hear that Bruce is going in for Dacourt and Butt in the centre for next season. Brady has tabled bids but after being burned all summer they are trying to keep it quiet until the signings materialise. Butt is deciding between Birmingham and Everton. Dacourt is waiting on Arsenal but Wenger hasn't put in an offer. It may go down to the last day of the window for both charlton to sign morrison of birmingham in exchange for euell Walter Pandiani and Olivier Dacourt to Birmingham City - Steve Bruce has also put offers in for Nikky Butt and Lee Bowyer from Newcastle to totally revamp the Birmingham centre midfield as it looks likely that David Dunn will have to retire and Muzzy Izzet doesn't look up to the job and may be sold to Wigan with Darren Anderton Dacourt would be ok on a free but he has a bad reputation an a trouble maker. Dunn - retire? Got to be having a laugh. Just a little light entertainment from Wildybeasts transfer figures thread as the I see enough figures to last me a lifetime ;) |

Would like to see Dacourt at the Blues. Can't see us signing Saviola at the mo. We've got "our 4 strikers" Bruce wanted. Even if Morrison leaves & we buy Saviola I can't see any 2 of the 4 then being happy with life on the bench. I have to say I'm still mystified as to why Pandiani wanted to sign. Surely he'll be 2nd choice after Heskey and Forssell. I think we need cover at centre half for KC but don't think Jagielka is the answer. I heard from a Spurs fan the other day that Davis is going back to Fulham. Good player but v injury prone. Not sure we should take the risk after Dunn and Forssell. Elliott sounds a good shout. He'll be good cover for Dunn. I think Stan's best days are behind him, and am not convinced about Gray. Can't see us signing Bridge until at least January as he's going to miss the start of the season anyway. If we can't get Dacourt, would prefer Bowyer rather than Butt. Will be interesting to see how Izzet performs. He certainly didn't look too convincing in the games he played before his injury last season. Will give him the benefit of the doubt for the first few games this year, until he's properly match fit. Just my opinion of course... |
