Maybe he's a recommendation by Pandiani??? I am sure Bruce will have a talk with Pandiani about some other useful players in the Spanish league that might be worth a bid! |

Here you go. Dont say I dont do anything for you ;) PABLO AMO AGUADO Squad Number: 20 Date of Birth: 15 January, 1978 Nationality: Spain Contract: 2002 - 2009 Transfer: ? (2002) Previous Clubs: Sporting Gijón (1999-2002), Sporting Gijón B (1997-1999) Buy-out Clause: ca. €64,1 million (10.000 million pesetas) Height: 186 cm Weight: 76 kg Position: Defender (central) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tall defender PABLO AMO had been on the wishlist of Deportivo for some time before he was eventually signed in the summer of 2002. But it was an emergency signing as new player Jorge Andrade, bought some weeks before, sustained an injury which would keep him out of the team for a while. Nevertheless, Pablo Amo wasn’t used much since then and his place in the squad keeps being a troubled one till now. Pablo Amo has encountered difficulties getting the confidence of Javier Irureta and this made him play only a handful of matches so far. His debut for Deportivo was made in the Cope del Rey match against Correalejo in September 2002. He added a second cup match two months later against Racing de Ferrol and a further four matches in this tournament. But that was it for the season 2002/2003 as he wasn’t given the opportunity to make his Liga debut. Despite this, Pablo Amo's qualities were well known, as playing Copa matches proved to be sufficient to show that he's a quality defender, resembling Naybet. Some might even consider him a possible international player, but all this depends on whether he will be given a fair chance at Deportivo. Last season, his second one at Deportivo, looked to be the same as the previous ones as he only participated during three Copa del Rey matches till 20 March 2004. But then his moment came at home against Murcia as Irureta saved most of his players for the match against Milan some days later. He did well and his team secured a 1-0 victory, and he even got praised by his coach. It did not change his situation much because additional minutes would only arrive at the end of the season. He played the complete matches against Real Madrid, Espanyol, Celta de Vigo and Racing de Santander in which his team leaked just two goals and earned nine points. The season 2004/2005 will be crucial for Pablo Amo's career and the question will be whether he finally has won the confidence of Irureta. The place of Jorge Andrade in the team has been unquestionable although Naybet left the club. In addition, the club has ended the contract with Djorovic and César Martín fails to convince the coach, so this season might be the one for Pablo Amo. http://www.deportivo-la-coruna.com/squad/pablo-amo.html |

Your both right. There was 2 sets of rumours. One that originated on KRO saying that Bruce was to sign a Spanish defender. The other rumour was on here and said that whilst we are at Deportivo Bruce, Black and Benson will fly within Spain to look at a midfielder. This is where it was then said that it may not be a Spanish midfielder but just someone who plays in Spain. |
