yep .. he did, and thats what would make him to inconsistent/unreliable for England ... not his actual football ... his record of not playing a full 90 minutes must be quite high?

Absolutely no chance. Remember who's in front of him. Don't get me wrong, I think Pennant would do a fantastic job but with the WC looming next year, do you realistically see Sir Sven dropping the England captain? Nope, neither do I.

Sven doesn't have to drop Beckham. He needs cover and Pennant could get in the squad in front of Wright-Phillips.

Tall order seeing as the golden boy now plays for Chelsea making him fashionable, but Pennant is as good if not better. The only reason Arsenal let him go was because of his off the field antics. Now they've stopped, there's nothing holding him back.

And what happens if Beckahm or SWP are injured? I maintain that if Pennant continues his performances that has has been putting in then he will give Svena very big selection problem. I can see him making the squad at least for the World Cup.

Well from the SOunds of it, we've got a Great 'Deal Ball Specialist' and hopefully he will keep the pace he has got now

ok ..may be not this world cup ... but Beckam just might might retire from international football after that, and that only leaves SWP? ...and you going to have just one right winger in a squad?

Agree after Becks retires but can't see it for a while yet. Maybe for a pointless friendly or something. Don't forget that Sven called AJ up and bashed him out onto the right wing.

I'd *love* to see Pennant in the England side but let's walk before we can run and be realistic about his chances.

Happy for them just to be playing for blues, have an england team, with loads of international around them, melchiot (Holland) Cunningham (ireland) Taylor(GK) (ireland), Morrison (ireland), Pandiani (Uraguay), Izzet (turkey), Stan (Aussie)--

we are in dream land compared to 3-4 yrs ago! and uthopia compared to 8 yrs ago!
