well, as the only one to have voted no i suppose i should own up....i dont think he's worth anywhere near £5m, and he goes missing in games too often. not the player to take us to the "next" level, whatever that is........

I've voted "No" because he's a right winger and we already have one of the best in the premiership in Pennant. Why do we need to spend £5m on back-up to Pennant?!

Malbranque would not fit into central midfield before anyone mentions that, the guiy is a right midfielder, at his best playing in a 5 where he has no defensive responsibilities.

also voted no because of that, plus the fact that he has been naff in Centre mid when CC Top has played him there rather than his preferred right wing position

The guy is absolute quality, he has so much talent and ability.

He didnt have his best season last year after he fell out with Coleman but it said on sky he has scored 36 goals since he joined fulham a few years ago.

Malbranque is like another David Dunn, hes a proper football who will create things from nothing and score you 10 goals a season.

With Dunn's recurring injury and fitness doubts we still need another out and out creative master in midfield and malbranque is that player.

If he is going for around 5m and we dont bid we are letting a huge opportunity pass us by.

We only took Butt on loan so we should still have money left, put malbranque in the middle alongside Butt and we'd be absolutely unstoppable.

Dunn - Butt - Malbranque - Pennant

Imagine facing that midfield :o

No!

We have just Bought Pennant for the Right & Butt & Nafti in the middle, With Izzet fit we need to spend money on a young CB & a LB.

IMO of course.

Imo the next level is premiership and uefa cup via league position or a cup win/runner up scenario.

Imo top level would be premiership high flyers (consistent top 6 finishes) and champions league football.

Imo the level we are currently at is premiership quality with no real danger of relegation and no real danger of winning much or a top 6 or 7 finish.

Whilst I think top level footie is attainable for us it would take us a good 10 years or so to get there. I do think though, that the next level is achievable much sooner as long as we sign players of Malbranques quality. Lets not forget as well, its likely our better players will move on sooner rather than later if the club cannot prove to them that they are striving to achieve a higher standard of football by signing these types of player.
